Name: Ethan Cheng Siu-Juen
Codename: N/A
Age: 18
Country of Origin: China
Power: Ethan has the ability to create bolts of plasma, generally fired off from his hands. He achieves this by instantaneously ionizing the air near his skin before releasing it. Though each shot isn’t very powerful by itself, Ethan is capable of firing them off in rapid succession. These bolts have an electromagnetic outer "skin" that causes them to strike with blunt force, and they radiate very little noticeable heat.
In addition to this, Ethan can transform his entire body into a mass of glowing, living plasma, retaining his human shape by generating an electromagnetic field the exact shape of his body to contain the plasma. In this form, Ethan gains enhanced speed and reflexes compared to baseline human, and about triple his human strength, but with very little ability to anchor himself. Thus, he can strike a foe fast and hard, but can just as easily be thrown aside by a sufficiently strong blow. He is immune to pain in this form, but using it takes a lot out of him. Shifting into this form is tiring to his human body once he reverts back, and it also momentarily impairs his ability to fire plasma bolts. Three minutes is his current upper limit for how long he can stay in his plasma state. Ethan can use this form several times a day, with each usage in a day lasting a shorter duration than the one before it. He can only use one aspect of his power at a time, either blasting as a human or shifting into his plasma state.
Personality: A bit cocky at times, Ethan can also have an impatient streak. A lot of this can probably be blamed on his rags to riches upbringing. He also seems to have difficulty thanking people, or apologizing. Still, he is loyal to his family, and those whom he feels he owes a debt to.
Physical description: Ethan is 5'9" tall, has black hair and brown eyes, and is of Han Chinese descent.
Background: Ethan is only certain that he was born in Hong Kong. Little is known about his biological parents, other than that they had probably illegally moved there from somewhere nearby in Guangdong. He doesn't remember his father at all, and his mother passed away when he was a small child, leaving him in the care of an orphanage.
Ethan's mutation manifest itself when he was 13, leading to some rifts and mistrust between him and the orphanage staff. He was moved to another orphanage that was more willing to provide care for a mutant youth, and it was around this time was when he befriended a fellow mutant orphan named Averi. At the age of 14, Ethan and Averi were adopted by Mr. Cheng, a wealthy industrialist who also happened to be a mutant (a fact he has made privy to only a few). Both of them summarily joined the Jade Youth Society.
All went reasonably well until a few months before Ethan transferred. Their family was attacked, leading to their mother being trapped in a coma. The mutant thugs that were hired to attack them were traced by Mr. Cheng back to a business rival with connections to the Hong Kong Hellfire Club.
Ethan and Averi were both soon enrolled in Xavier's London University; mainly for their own protection near a certain associate of their father's, though this could also be a good opportunity to establish business connections in Europe.
