A male nurse walks over to see what's going on.

"Just visiting, or is there something medical you need?"

"Great, a doctor. I was hoping to get checked out; I was...I'm going to say attacked in the arcade a few minutes ago, and the weirdest thing happened to my hand. I feel allright NOW, but I certainly didn't then, and I just wanted to make sure everything was in the right place and whatnot."

"Alright. Well you don't seem to be in pain or urgent need at the moment, so if you can just answer a couple of questions, it'll speed things up."

"Can you describe the injury for me?"

The nurse turns on a switch that lets a doctor know that there's a patient that needs to be looked at.

"Well", Will says, extending his hand, "whatever it was grabbed me about the wrist, here. At first, nothing happened, and then I started getting really, really drowsy. I felt like I was going to fall asleep, but before that happened, shooting pains started rushing up and down my arm. It subsided when my friend Marcus...persuaded the other guy to let go, and I quickly got back to normal, but I've never felt such pain. Very disconcerting."

"Alright. Thank you. Ah, here's the doctor now."

He turns to the doctor, a middle aged man, and relays the information that Will gave him in a succint way.

The doctor steps over to Will and nods. "William, is it? I'm Dr. Holliday. I'm going to use my mutation on you, it won't hurt, but I don't want to startle you. It's just a diagonstic procedure."

The doctor holds his hand over Will's, and a beam of some kind of light extends, bathing Will's hand and giving him a tingling feeling.

"Hmmm, something attacked your mutation, and your astral self here. But your physical body too. That hand is going to be sore tomorrow, but it shouldn't be anything too problematic. I'm going to give you some vitamins, you lost some minerals in the attack."

"No, no real damage was done. If the attack had continued, you might have suffered some loss of ability, but it looks like it was a pretty short event."

"...not exactly. I thought it was another shifter at first, because it looked just like my friend Marcus, but after we...persuaded it to let go, it kind of collapsed in to a pile of sticks and stones."

Will pauses.

"Interesting. Well, I'm afraid I'm no expert on that kind of thing. I'd be sure to report it to one of the X-Men. And notify someone if you see any more of these doubles."

"Also, as far as your own case, if you feel anything beyond some small sore spots in your hand tomorrow, come back here and I'll have another look."

As Will steps through the door her almost runs into Sara who has come barreling down the corridor after hearing some swiftly spreading rumours on campus about Will being attacked by something weird.
"Will!" she yelps out, clearly agitated but quickly calming down a little as she sees him seemingly being okay. "What happened? I heard you got hurt by something down at the Zub..."

"Split the difference, I suppose. I was hanging out with Marcus, and John, and....one of the winged crew...down in the Xub, when from behind us came...Marcus! I assumed it was Zero or someone having a laugh, but both Marcusses...Marcusii...Marcii...whatever...insisted they were the real thing. After some questioning got us nowhere, John had the idea of having them use their powers, to see which was the real one. I, like an idiot, let "Marcus" try to use his powers on me. Next thing I know, I'm on the ground in pain, and the Real Marcus is knocking the Fake Marcus' block off.

The weirdest part of all was that when FauxMarcus hit the ground, he...changed. Sticks, stones, rope...it's like something out of a fairy tale. A Grimm fairy tale."

"Wow, that's even weirder than what I heard. And I could swear I heard that before, a man from sticks and stones... It's definately some kind of fairy tale, but none of those stories or even the more nasty ones. Like from the ones my grandma used to tell me when my ma wasn't around to stop her. Gwcoir and Pookas and what-not. There's supposed to be all kinds of Little Folk all over the British Isles, but that's just superstitious mumbo-jumbo..."

Not even turning to look at Nina, Will adds "Another party heard from."

Returning to Sara, "I know, it's totally bizarre. I wouldn't have believed if it hadn't happened to me, and I STILL might not have believed it if Marcus hadn't gotten a big plastic bag and taken it to Lumis's. I mean, there's no such thing as the Unseelie. It's just stories.

Still..." Will shakes his head, "it was like some kind of horrific scarecrow man. Thing."

"Creepy, but Nina's propably right. Although..." She seems to be thinking for a moment. "I know how we could find out. One thing I remember is that the People under the Hills are supposed to live in the earth under ancient marking stones. You know, like Stonehenge. And I know someone who can go down there." She grins, her curiosity and sense of adventure obviously spiked.

"Well, now, there's an idea. That might be something to look into--a road trip at some point. I think I better tell Lumis first, though--he might know something about this. And Nina is probably right, it could be some weird mutant power--some kind of remote animation or something."

Will thinks.

"I wish it WAS Zero. Now we have a mystery, and I'm all out of brightly colored vans and cardigans."

"Joking, m'lady, is how one keeps sane in an insane world, and being attacked by scarecrow men definitely counts as an insane world.

We SHOULD really go to Stonehenge though, creepy fair folk or not. Get a crew up there...just to look around, you know?"

((17th, sometime)) Jess walked into the infirmary for no other reason than to 'bother' Nina. She was beginning to feel more comfortable with how she felt towards the other girl, more willing to admit that she missed her when she wasn't around.
