DT2 - Phryxus Mining Bay

Madrox took point as the two entered the Mining Bay, carefully monitoring their surroundings.

The mining bay was surprisingly active. There was a constant stream of workers heading to and from the doors, evidently going back to the control room and returning with components they'd cut from systems with their plasma cutters. Others had components that looked like they'd come from other, less critical systems. All seemed to be traveling to and from the latest asteroid that had been brought in.

Slightly more alarming were the floating, spherical drones orbiting the asteroid. As Kat and Madrox entered the bay, a swarm of them swooped in. Madrox would be able to detect electric discharge weapons powering up.

"Screw that..." Wrestling a plasma cutter from one of the 'zombie'-workers she flicks it on and sends it flying towards one of the drones with a burst of gravity.

The plasma cutter, once released from her hand, shut off as the safeties stopped registering pressure on the grip. The plasma cutter bounced off a drone, which seemed slightly irritated and turned its attention directly toward Kat, along with its companions.

"Well it got their attention at least." she superflously points out. "I hope you have good aim with that thing." she adds, nodding at Maddie's hand before pushing herself off, flying towards the drones before veering off to the side to, hopefully, make them follow her and give Madrox a chance to blast at them.

Madrox tore off his suit's gloves and slipped his left hand into his gauntlet. He then stepped out into the open to blast at them with his repulsor. He also began an attempt to access the drones' systems.

The repulsor blast tore through the drones, scattering those who weren't pulverized in the blast. Unfortunately, as he reached out to the drone's systems, he attracted the attention of the main system controlling the drones, which began attempting to force its way into Madrox's systems.

"Nice one!" she yells and with the bulk of the drones gone Kat turns around and starts going after the stray ones, pulling them in before blasting them away towards the asteroid.

As soon as he detected the backhack, Madrox closed down all of his data ports and purged any data that had come through.

"Well I think what's at work here just said hi to me."

The gravity wave Kat hit the drones with drove them away, smashing some against the asteroid and the walls of the bay. Others, though, rode the wave out and swooped around back toward them.

Meanwhile, more seemed to be coming from the opposite end of the asteroid.

The drones, running a quick threat assessment, swarmed Madrox, deciding that the best defense against Kat was to stay the hell away. As they approached Madrox, each began letting off an electric discharge at him, each separate blast on its own enough to stun a man.

From the other side of the asteroid, a voice could be heard over the noise of the fighting. "Is someone there!? Someone SANE!?"

Staying away from her was easier said (processed?) than done as Kat proceeds to hurl herself towards the swarm attacking Madrox. Just before she'd crash into them she veers off, trying to drag many of them as she can with her as she heads away from her team-mate.

The electrity sparked along his enviro-suit as Madrox sliced at the nearest drone.

"Sit tight! We're on our way!"

He then let off a charged up repulsor thump at section of the swarm Kat left behind.

The drones, while they did pack a decent punch, seemed to be designed to be easy and cheap to produce, not to weather a lot of beating. With the drones trapped in Kat's gravity well, they were a fairly easy shot for Madrox to take out. There were a couple strays here and there, but nothing serious.

"Hurry, then, before this damn station gets taken apart!"

They found Flux on the other side of the asteroid. "That thing happened!" he said, pointing at the asteroid. He didn't have long to point, there was another swarm of drones trying to find a good method to attack him. Each time they charged, the closest one seemed to burst into its component molecules, but... well, there were a lot of them still.

On the asteroid, there was what could best be described as a dangerous-looking mechanical hermit crab, if hermit crabs came the size of small houses. It had a rounded cone-shaped shell, from which various legs and tool-tipped extremities were protruding. It moved slowly across the asteroid, and seemed to be collecting the components that the miners had left.

"It had something that was brainwashing the other miners. I got here too late to stop it from doing that. It started spitting out drones after I ruined the brainwashing-arm," Flux added, sending a cloud of disintegrated drone puffing away from him. "I can't get close enough to disable it with these things around me."

"I'll get these clear, just see if you can stop it from making more! Give it something else to repair!"

Sure enough, even as they talked, three more drones came popping out of the 'shell'.

"Yeah sure, I'll just go punch the big metal thing." she says, pushing herself up into the air, flying around the thing to look for a more vulnerable looking part like where the 'arms' connect to the rest.

The legs were jointed, although the 'arms' of the machine were flexable, one-piece tentacles for all intents and purposes.

As Madrox landed on the asteroid, the machine turned its attention to him. Three arms extended toward him, one bearing some sort of energy cutting implement, another seeming to be a gathering arm and the last being an electonic interface device, to the best of Madrox's analysis.

As Kat orbited, looking for a weakness, the plasma cutter she'd thrown earlier came drifting by, having rebounded off the wall of the chamber.

Madrox would avoid strikes and cut the arms when given the chance, focusing first on the cutter and interface arms.

Kat has a short'what the hell' moment as the cutter drifts past her before it makes a beeline into her hand. "If anyone asks, I totally planned that." she tells herself as she turns the plasma flame on, looking for a metal-tentacle-free route to take to land on the robot's shell with the intent of going to town on the base of one of the arms.

Kat would find that, aside from the drones, the arms of the creature couldn't reach her if she landed at the extreme end of the shell... yet. To compensate, though, the drones now emerging from the end of the shell

The cutting arm remained evasive, waiting until Madrox made a move for the interface arm to dart in at his midsection, while the gathering arm came in high to try to immobilize him.

Madrox succeeded in leaping between the two arms. As he passed through, them, though, one of the robot's legs stabbed at him.

Kat's plasma cutter did cut through the shell, opening a hole at the top to expose the machinery inside. Before she could do anything though, the drones were on her, discharging electricity at her from three forward angles.

Kat was somewhat prepared for being shot at, but somehow managed to forget they were using electricity, so her attempt to dodge gets cut short by the three arcs discharging into her. Losing her concentration at the sudden pain it throws her off of the metal-crab-thing, drifting away from the 'safe-spot' on it's shell.

Madrox was smashed to the ground as the leg came down and stabbed into this torso. Luckily it was only his meat suit that had been damaged. He quickly slashed at the foot with his adamantium gauntlet-blades to cut himself free and then get away.

The big metal crab shifted its legs to make up for the loss of the one Madrox sheared short. More grasping arms extended toward him, even as the drones lost interest in Kat and moved back to try to help disable Madrox.

Madrox used his repulsor the hold back the drones and fended off the arms with his gauntlet, hoping to keep it off Kat.

Kat continues to drift through the air, occasionally twitching from the after-effects of being zapped. She faintly notices the drones advancing on Madrox and tries to pull herself back towards the asteroid and the crab by creating a sphere of gravity on herself, but nothing happens.

Both robots on the asteroid would notice a momentary jerk 'down' from the asteroid though.
