"You do. He's my little boy, and he's chosen you," she said, looking down at the photos again.

Rita shook her head. "I was always the one he ran to when he had a problem--and now that's you," she smiled. "I just want you to know how important he is to me. Max has his houses and his business and all of that, but Will is my job. I've changed his diapers, I've combed his hair, I've checked his homework. And he's chosen you."

"And if you need any help...I've been keeping him reigned in for the past nineteen years," she giggled, wiping away some of the tears.

"Well, YOU'VE probably already seen what a handful he can be--this whole 'shifting' thing was his idea, yes? I can't imagine anyone ELSE coming up with it. He just gets so enthusiastic sometimes, and doesn't think things through..."

"It's just..." She realizes a second too late that she can't really bring up that topic to Rita. Or at least she shouldn't. "...well... I'm sure he'll pick up some common sense from me eventually, right?"

"I don't think his lack of clothing is what he'd be embarassed about, really." she chuckles. "And with what I've seen in six months I can only imagine how many embarassing things he has amassed over 19 years." she snickers.

"Oh, good lord, yes. You've got quite a task ahead of you, keeping him under control. I remember the day he came home from..I think it was the second grade. He had superglued his hand to a piece of wood, because he wanted to see if he could get unstuck. He couldn't."

"Well I... might have shoved her when she was getting obnoxious, although I'm sure anyone who saw it would say she just tripped..." she answers a little shifty. "And if my 'corrupting' is the reason for him standing up to her I'm willing to admit to that part."
