The cyborg and the pixie (issue 1 downtime)

The chef made a big show about cutting and grilling the meat, and after taking everyone's orders from them briefly, he began serving them up. With a liberal amount of rice that had been fried along with the meat, their orders were placed in front of them. "Now to see if it tastes good, too," Cal joked as he picked up his fork, eyeing his steak hungrily.

Tink giggled and kept her thoughts to herself. She watched with interest as Cal ate, taking in his expressions as he did so.

Cal started in on his food, apparently approving of the steak from the 'Mmm's coming from his direction. It took him a moment to catch on that she was studying him. "What?" he asked, a bit self-consciously, after quickly swallowing.

"Nothing." Tink turned back to her food and gave it a try. Showing obvious pleasure she ate on.

Tink's internal alarm warnings went off in the form of her wings tingling and she gave Cal an apologetic smile.

"Siren sounded, sorry - guess that's us for the night."

"Eh, all that means is that there's no point sticking around at dinner for too long if you can't eat anymore," Cal said. "The night's still young, after all."

"I might meet you outside.." Tink whispered quietly, her face solemn.

"How dare you tell me this is not your baby! You said you loved me!" Tink yelled as she clutched her stomach, tears springing to her eyes as she voiciferously departed the restaurant the other patrons turning disapproving eyes towards Cal.

Cal's jaw dropped. Oh. My. God.

Amidst the angry glares from the other diners, Cal hurriedly pulled out enough cash to cover the bill and a tip, set it on the counter, and hurried out the door.

Oh, that little brat, he thought, fighting back laughter as he looked around for Tink.

"Just remember... do that too many places and there won't be any places left to go to eat in London," Cal said, laughing himself. He reached up his hand, stroking his finger down her back. "Now... the sudden pixification doesn't mean you're all tired out on me, does it?" he teased.
