Sept. 30th- the Armory, morning

Postby Byrna Cooper » Mon Jun 15, 2009 11:50 pm

Bear opened the heavy security doors with her X-Team credentials, flipping on the high set lights and taking a step inside.

Looking around at the rows upon rows of high tech weaponry, she tapped her bottom lip in thought.

Jayda stuck her head in the door, grinning when she saw Bear.

"Hello! Thought I saw a light in here!" She called cheerfully.

"Ah, just the person I need!"

Bear smiled, giving Jayda a friendly hug.

Only Bear.. Jayda gave Bear an awkward pat on the back, she didn't even really hug Kevin..

"Me? What can I do for you, in this my favourite of all places?"

Bear pulled a card out of her pocket, indicating her current top marksman credentials with thrown weapons.

"I think it's time I upgraded my arsenal," She said, smiling.

Jayda grinned wider than before as she sauntered in closing the door behind her. She sat on one of the benches and wiggled her eyebrows at Bear.

"So.. what were your daydreaming about?"

"What weight can you lift?" Jayda weighed up some possibilities.

Bear lifted a few of her steel spheres out of her bag- they were surprisingly heavy.

"I'm slightly superhumanly strong, at least in my arms and upper body. I can handle most anything you can suggest," Bear replied, smiling.

"Anything? Oh Bear, this is going to be fun." Jayda rubbed her hands together and moved across the room to check out what was around.

"You have made my day - plus we need to test it out. Which means.. BANG! YAY!"

Bear nods, tapping her chin.

"What I was thinking, actually, was some penetrating explosive.. like a throwable claymore. Right now, the closest thing I have is my bang balls, and they aren't designed to do much damage.. I think some stable heavy explosive would give me a few more options."

"Blowing up walls and the like? Claymore's are the wrong shape for throwing or so I would assume.. grenades cause the same amount of damage but you want stable.. less risk of accidents, huh?"

Bear nodded, lost halfway in thought.

"Hmm.. Modification isn't out of the question.. but yeah. a throwable, attachable mine would be perfect. I should be able to take care of the sticky part myself, but I bow to your knowledge in terms of using the right explosive."

"Contact explosive? Remote detonator? Actually that might work.. a glove attachment that you can use to trigger an explosion?" Jayda tapped her chin thoughtfully.

Bear nodded, smiling with a slightly (only slightly) evil curl.

"I can add the detonator to my existing forearm console.. Binary left quite a bit of space for add ons."

"So instantaneous detonation or delayed.. I guess it depends on the distance your remote can relay from. I would lean towards instantaneous, press button and bang."

"Well I have only heard the rumours of course..." Jayda winked.

"I think we could look at the control device on the reciever, maybe program it so that you can delay the detonation - I don't think it would be a hard task for a tech expert for the glove capability. Now as far as explosives..."

"Compound explosive might be safer to throw then a chemical mix.. though a nuke survives the fall.. what if it was something based on the same principle as a nuclear weapon though obviously designed only to explode.. not go nuclear. Or would you feel more comfortable with a putty type, it is the more sensible option I suppose.."

Bear thought a moment.

"Let's keep it simple, and go with putty. What are the options?"

"Only really one that makes sense to be honest. Shaped charge, Low sensitivity, high impact threshold.. standard putty.. secondary explosive mixed with a detonation charge to ignite. Won't blow easily, can take a fair thud - like a throw to stick it on the wall, needs a spark to ignite but can't create its own..." Jayda ticked off the points on her fingers, a grin on her face.

"Cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine.. RDX"

"Casing is fine and makes sense, the charge will need to be maybe shotput size to create a blast large enough to take down a standard wall.. also if you get a casing made up with the detonator sitting externally until you trigger it you will add another level of safety to carrying it." Jayda said thoughtfully.

"Now that sounds better than perfect.."

Bear took a few casings out of her satchel, and handed them to Jayda.

"Here's my standard enclosure for my balls.. With just a little modification, they should be great!"

Jayda took them and weighed them carefully in her hand, rolling it over as she checked it out.

"No chance of it making a spark of its own? Frictionless?"

"Totally. I developed it with a friend while traveling after XI.. the smooth, frictionless surface helps me with my tossing.. and the metal/ceramic matrix makes it light, and sparkless."

"There's no reason you can't get a table there as well.. work on your own equipment.."

Bear grinned, handling some of the plastic explosive Jayda had recommended, getting a feel for it's weight and texture.

"Seriously though, you probably shouldn't play with explosives like that unless someone tells you that you can. A primary explosive can go off just by being manipulated, a little friction and BOOM! And I really don't think they can glue back together all the little bits you will be in.."
