A Quiet Dinner

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy walks into the cafeteria and gets a tray of food before heading to a random table to eat. She does her best to keep her head down, feeling like people are staring at her the whole way.

[Byrna Cooper]

Bear had taken a seat at the table next to Hannah, sitting back to back with her.

Noticing there was no hot sauce on her own table, Bear turned around.

"Hi! mind if I borrow that bottle there?"

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy shrugs, picking at her food.

[Byrna Cooper]

"Oh, thanks!"

Bear happily took the bottle, sprinkling a good dollop of spicy stuff on her food.

"So.. waiting for someone?"

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy shakes her head.

[Byrna Cooper]

"Well, care to join me, then?" Bear asked, smiling in a friendly manner.

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy thinks for a moment then hesitantly picks up her tray, sitting across from Byrna.

"Hello."

[Byrna Cooper]

"Hello! In Byrna, but everyone calls me Bear."

She smiled, forgoing the hug for now.

[Hannah Murphy]

"Murphy."

[Byrna Cooper]

"Oh! It's good to meet you, Murphy! Enjoying yourself so far at the University?"

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy nods.

"It's interesting."

[Byrna Cooper]

"Boy, I'll say! London is suck a groovy city!."

Taking a moment to take in a mouthful of lunch, she swallows before continuing.

"So, Where you from. Murphy?"

[Hannah Murphy]

"Different places."

[Byrna Cooper]

"Oh? You've done a lot of traveling? That's great! I did some traveling myself after high school.. Met some good friends, had lots of fun, learned a lot about myself and the world... I bet you can relate!"

Bear smiled, looking her new friend over.

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy shrugs, "Not really."

[Byrna Cooper]

"Oh, that's okay.. People can have lots of different experiences."

Bear leaned in, curious.

"So.. I know you've been asked this a ton already.. but what do you do? What's your mutation?"

[Hannah Murphy]

"I shoot arrows," Murphy says, lifting her hand and summoning one of her energy arrows briefly.

[Byrna Cooper]

BEar was very impressed by the spheres Murphy generated.

"Very cool! I do something similar, only I can't instantly create mine.. or make them float like that.."

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy nods, eating a little bit of food.

[Byrna Cooper]

"So, met many people yet?"

[Hannah Murphy]

"Roommate," Murphy says, "Tink."

[Byrna Cooper]

"Oooo.. You're lucky. Tink is a great person to know and hang out with. I envy you!"

Bear takes a moment, thinking back to the red arrow Hannah had conjured.

"So.. any good with slinging those arrows or yours?"

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy nods.

[Byrna Cooper]

"Hmm.. I'd love to see sometime.. Do you practice regularly? Have a special place to train?"

[Hannah Murphy]

"Not yet."

[Byrna Cooper]

"Well, come join me during one of my sessions! I have a pretty groovy Danger Room target range all set up, ready to go.. What do you say?"

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy thinks for a long bit of time before nodding a bit reluctantly.

[Byrna Cooper]

"Oh, that's great! We'll have a blast!"

Bear smiled broadly before returning to her own food.

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy nods again, finishing up her dinner.

[Byrna Cooper]

"Ok.. I'll send you an email about when the session is scheduled. I've gotta run right now, but I'll be in touch! Bye!"

Bear retrieved her bag, and tray, and got rid of her garbage before heading to class.

Murphy waves goodbye as Bear leaves.
