Merle sits with his group, standing tall and gliding briskly on his crutches. He's glum, but perks up on seeing Victoria Freud. How'd he miss her before?
He laughs, inside, at the little paper notebook. Man, she was so -organized-. He tries to get her attention with a wave but is mindful of all the telepaths, psionics and whatevers in the room.

It'd been a while since he'd found anyone cute, but he was able to put the thought out of his head.

Veronica leaned against the wall with her arms crossed, her duotang dangling by the corner from one of her hands. She noticed Merle's wave and looked at some of the people around her. He must have been waving to one of them.

He looks down at Will's feet. "I'm sorry, Gwion, I fucked up. I was over my head against those guys and I should've listened to you and it's my fault."

He straightens up and looks toward the front of the room.

"You WALKED INTO the room, sized up the situation, and decided the BEST course of action was to stand IN THE VAMPIRE'S line of sight, COUNT TO THREE, and then RIP THE SUV OPEN. I thought you were supposed to be some kind of tactical genius; that shows all the brain capacity of an ant, or a moldy piece of bread!

A man DIED because you blundered in. Would I have been able to save him without you? I don't know. I honestly don't know. And I never will.

Why don't I apologize for the vampires? Because we are better than them. We are made of better stuff. With all of our power, no one should ever die. No one. Not friend, not foe, nobody. Anytime someone dies, failed. Plain and simple.

And if that's the best you can do, maybe you should be sitting on the sidelines."

Merle sat down, looked over his sit-analysis, and penciled in a few notes.

He hadn't been in line of sight, for one, he was crouching next to the door.
Second, he had been told to keep close by Gwion, and had t o

He knew that putting in any distaste for Will's decisions was not only incorrect but vendetta-ish. But Ryan was 'continually angry' and had threatened Merle's life twice now. That's not the kind of shit you let slide from a 'teammate.'

Cyclone had performed expertly in the field, again, and even helped him back to the chopper -of all the people to work with, he was a definitely a favorite.

It was oddly funny, how the blame kept going in the same pattern - it was his fault, it was Gwion's as leader, it WASN'T Gwion's fault (in the form of Merle apologizing), Ryan was going to kick in Merle's teeth, it was the vampire's choice to do it, it WAS Merle's fault for not knowing that Nomic was talking to Madrox,

This was just like a fucking high school. That's what it was. Merle wondered if he could transfer over to Simon's squad or something. He didn't write that down, explicitly, but put it into his cell.

"I considered that codename back when I first joined the X-Men. But it was taken. Cyclone's a French supervillain. Also, he has to wear a special suit to accomplish the same thing I do with a mutation. In other words, he's nowhere near as awesome as I am," Rick said as he peered from behind Merle at his notes. He didn't even mention the other things mentioned in the note, only raising an eyebrow at several parts of it.

There will be on interruption while they are speaking, they will not be interrupted. After they have given their reports, all of you will have the chance to speak as you wish. I want one thing to be clear, we will focus on the mission and what people did. Personal attacks will not be tolerated. Am I clear?"

Ryan nodded, and when indicated, opened his report. "From all indications, the vampires at Cullen House didn't expect to be hit, so the assault went off without a hitch initially. We staged a very loud, very blatant assault on the front of the building, while a select group from the combined teams came in quietly from the rear. We met heavy resistance in the front, as expected, when we started destroying the house. Most of the vampires were drawn out there, where they could be easily taken out in the crossfire."

He hesitated. "The only real hitches that the mission hit started when the supposed leadership made an escape attempt. They tried to escape with prisoners through the garage, which degenerated into a hostage situation after the driver and passenger seat rider were taken out. A... well intended, but very ill-advised solution from Merle led to the vampire panicking and shooting a hostage, but the team acted quickly enough that the vampire was neutralized before he could hurt either of the other prisoners."

"Hitch number two... well, the apparent vampire in charge escaped, after a fight where her accomplice was neutralized and captured, but she managed to knock me out and hold a gun to me to get away."

"End result, all but one vampire, the apparent leader, taken out, two hostages saved, no real casualties on our side."

Will stood up.

"I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to everyone. Both 'hitches' Ryan mentioned came as a direct result of my failures--if I had successfully cut the vampires with the hostages off before they had reached the SUV, or successfully negotiated with the one with the gun, we'd be talking about the three hostages we saved rather than the two. I'm also responsible for the lead female vampire getting away--I felt the cost of charging in recklessly, the potential death of at least the one vampire I did bring in as well as possibly Seraph, was too high a price to pay. I'm entirely responsible for the fact that she is still at large, and I apologize for my failures."

THAT'S a load off his chest.

“I feel that what happened is partially my fault. I had a plan that might have worked to defuse the hostage situation but didn't mention it to my teammates. I tried to implement it but didn't have time before the area I was in came under gunfire from a different group of vampires. Then the unfortunate series of invents happened before I got a chance to make a second attempt. I don't know for sure if it would have worked, but I should have at least let my team know what my plan was.“

Cal and his teammates exchanged a few quick looks, brief words, and shrugs over the usual undetermined question of just who the team leader was. "Okay, I guess I'll do this," he said. "Team four got to their target without a hitch. We... ah, improvised entry into the building, and found it completely empty. Replay gave us a rewind of the building, and we saw the vampires all getting ready to roll out to attack the school. We booked it out of there, got back to the chopper, and got dropped on the dorms and found them full of vampires. After that, it was pretty straightforward."

Re: Sept. 28 - Mission debriefing

Postby Sara Stanton » Sat Jun 06, 2009 6:40 am

With Constantine nowhere in sight Sara stands up to give the report for Teams 2 and 6.

"When we first arrived things seemed to be under control. Jayda spotted 8 vampires, which seemed low, but with the basement shielded not suspiciously so. The distraction team knocked down a wall to alert them towards our position and away from the other two groups. We eemed to have taken them by surprise and things worked alright.
From what I've been told this was about the time Kathrin attacked Con, Bear and Marcus, hurting Con badly in the process. We were still struggling at the front of the house while in all that chaos people back there still managed to take out the vampires. We conducted a sweep of the house and it was empty. I'm a bit fuzzy on the details here, but apparently Victoria turned on Con due to, as she said, mind-fuckery. No one else was present for that except apparently Kathrin. Who instead of stopping the two attacked Constantine as well.
The end result was an unconscious Kathrin and our current Team-Leader disappearing along with Victoria. So I took charge and gathered everyone together since the mansion was empty except from a steel-door to the basement that was locked and requiring biometric data from someone. Upon finding Nina, who had run off during the sweep through the house I have to admit I kind of lost it, which is that shouldn't have happened. In my defense however, Nina was, for no rhyme or reason, vivisecting a vampire. After arguing back and forth I decided that since the vampire was beyond help I'd kill him to stop me holding up the mission. Nina ran off, barely stopping to help the wounded Kat who had been found at that point. Another thing I'm willing to take the blame for is not sending anyone to follow Nina, which caused her to be captured."

Sara stops for a moment to take a deep breath and gather herself.

"Out of other options to open the door John and me forced it open, setting off an explosion that luckily only hit the two of us. To make things short, we confronted the Progenitor, he revealed his hostages and Constantine returned, threatening him, which caused him to order his lackey to do... whatever it is they done to Nina, before I could get the situation under control again. After hearing from Bear and Jayda that they found where she was being held I decided to give the signal to attack. We freed Dr. Bowen and Professor Weinrich from their guards and hurt the Progenitor. Who apparently had a backup plan. He disappeared into a horde of feral vampire-things we barely managed to slow down and contain within the basement by collapsing the house on top of the entrance."

"Personal problems with morals aside there are three people to blame for what happened aside from the mind-controlling. First of all Constantine for abandoning the Team-Leader spot only to return later and screw up a hostage situation, second of all Nina for conducting needless and despicable surgery in the middle of a mission and finally me for chasing Nina off, not giving her an escort and generally making poor decisions."

With all that being said she sits back down.

Re: Sept. 28 - Mission debriefing

Postby Jayda Nightridge » Sat Jun 06, 2009 7:43 am

Jayda rose to her feet and ran a hand through her hair, she glanced around the room once then focused on Jubilee.

"As we were split off from the main team I feel I should report back too." She pauses for any objections then shrugging continues on.

"After being asked for an initial observation of the Mansion, which did bring back 8 vamps and a shielded room, Victoria and I instigated the first part of the maneuver in which we removed the place from the external power grid. Backup systems kicked in shortly after. Seeing as our given objective was Search and Recovery we made the decision, based on what intel we had, that we had best check out the basement.

Entering the stairwell that descends therein we encountered a steel door with a biometric locking system, a vampire was obtained and it was while this was occurring I witnessed the unprovoked attack on Con by G-force. Seeing as the situation was in hand, with the rest of team 6 present, I made the decision to follow out orders and continue to seek a key to the locking system. Our vamp was hit by rogue blast and was dead before we got the chance to try him while his heart was still beating. Victoria suggested we try anyway and the deceased's arm was utilised unsuccessfully. It was at this point that Victoria rapidly changed in demeanour and struck out at me, after a few moments face off I decided I was best off reporting back to the team.

I ported out, leaving Victoria untracked, finding Conduit with Amp and Closer I reported back what had occurred. Conduit at this time decided to engage with Victoria himself and I was required to remove the last of the hostiles which was successfully completed. At this point the situation with Trauma Pack arose and after some ongoing debate I asked that we refocus on our mission objective. Flowstone took action she felt was necessary to be humane and Nina bolted. It was my belief at this point, after a considerable blast and sounds of fighting, that Conduit would not be rejoining us.

We turned to the basement and the door was taken down through the efforts of John, Sara and Marcus I believe. Upon entering the basement we found a secure lab facility and therein encountered the Progenitor. I was able to stay in contact with Closer who was on the surface tracking Trauma Pack by utilising my ability, upon hearing that a bunker had been found and knowing TP was being held near by I elected to join Closer where I felt my skills were more useful.

The basement was unlocked and unshielded, I could see inside two vamps and TP, Closer and I decided a stealth removal of the vamps was the best course of action and I eliminated both whilst Closer removed TP to the Chopper. Once at the Chopper we received a call from Conduit asking us to sweep the grounds which we did whilst everybody was removed from the area.

Ma'am I can't say as I think Victoria was responsible for her own actions and at this time I am quite happy to trust the fact that she was being utilised by hostile telepaths for their own ends."

Jayda glanced to Victoria and nodded before waiting for any questions.
