Carlise Manor - Teams 2 and 6

[Narrator]

The explosion had wrecked a lot of the surrounding area, but the stairway leading down into the basement remained intact.

[Sara Stanton]

Unnoticed by herself she had already been yelling. Technically not having ears the explosion didn't hit her hearing quite as bad but didn't leave her entirely unaffected either. At John's question she points at him, herself and then down at the ground before gesturing a wide circle to indicate the others and pointing on the ground again.

[Byrna Cooper]

Bear took a wide route back while the others recovered, hoping to catch up with Nina.

[John Hino]

John nodded to Sara and took point as a bullet shield.

[Jayda Nightridge]

Jayda held her gun at the ready and joined the others as they descended the stairs. She'd been tossed on her ass and hit her head pretty hard but what was a few bruises between friends?

[Narrator]

As the remaining members descended into the basement, they'd find it'd been converted into some sort of gigantic biological lab. The lights were all on and the equipment was running, so there seemed to be power of some sort.

[Nina Madaraki]

Bear took a wide route back while the others recovered, hoping to catch up with Nina.

Nina was nowhere to be found. The only trace of her was her com that she'd discarded.

[John Hino]

As the remaining members descended into the basement, they'd find it'd been converted into some sort of gigantic biological lab. The lights were all on and the equipment was running, so there seemed to be power of some sort.

"I don't like the look of this."

[Sara Stanton]

"This must be where they change people." Sara stated the obvious as the team descends into the lab.
Please let Stan be here. And us not too late...
Still slightly shaken from the explosion she hardens herself again and takes a few careful steps into the lab.

[Jayda Nightridge]

"That would explain the shielding... radioing this in might be a good thing."

[John Hino]

John nodded.

"Network, this is Genbu. We found something."

[Narrator]

"We hear you loud and clear, Genbu. Report?"

The lab was very quiet. Just the hum of machinery and equipment working away automatically.

[John Hino]

"A biological lab in the basement level," he said, going into detail about what he can see.

[Sara Stanton]

With nothing immidiately jumping out at them Sara slowly wanders deeper into the lab, not breaking line of sight with the rest of the team. Taking a look at the equipment she tries to see if she can make sense of just what the automated machinery is doing.

[Jayda Nightridge]

Jayda begins to scout around the room seeking out the source of the rooms shielding in order to destroy it, she also keeps her eyes peeled for the bad guy she just knows should be hiding here somewhere.

[Narrator]

"We'll need you to search the lab. Secure any victims and shut down their machinery, understood?"

As the team moves forward, they can see the outline of a figure standing in the shadows, his back turned to them looking at several monitor screens.

[John Hino]

"Understood."

John quieted as he noticed the figure.

[Sara Stanton]

Assuming their presence hasn't gone unnoticed due to people talking Sara stops a few meters away from the figure.
"Whoever you are, turn around and surrender." Yeah, right, that's going to happen...

[Jayda Nightridge]

Jayda fell back a little way, deciding that rear guard may just be necessary, an unprotected flank is likely to get slapped as her father always said. She positions herself with her back against the wall so she can watch the stairway and the others approaching the mad scientist.

[Narrator]

The man raises one arm into the air and snaps his fingers, a monitor descending from the ceiling.

"For your...consideration..." The man says slowly as the monitor flickers to life.

On screen, two vampires have strapped Nina to a chair. Her face is bloodied and her uniform ripped.

"Those are two of my most treasured creations," the man says, "Jacob and Rebecca."

"They are very loyal to me. I imagine if anything untoward happens in your youthful zeal...something regrettable might happen."

[John Hino]

"Fuck..."

[Sara Stanton]

Sara's extended arm/blade sinks to her side. "Where is she?"

[Jayda Nightridge]

Jayda considered trying to slip away and search for those holding Nina but decided she was better off where she was. She slipped back into the shadows, unable to port out of the room but able to slip into the doorway dimension, she could carefully watch what was unfolding but not be heard by those in the room.

Closer... the vamps have Nina somewhere... recon may be needed. If you need me let me know.

[Byrna Cooper]

Bear gritted her teeth and cursed after hearing Jayda's report, definitely not feeling sunshine and happiness at the moment.

Picking up Nina's discarded headset, she clicked on her own.

"Roger, Dominion. they can't have gotten too far.. I'll start looking."

Bear made a few adjustments to one of her spy balls, turning on a wide, sweeping search for life signs. She then threw it to the top of the Manor, where it unfolded and began searching for any sign of Nina.

[Narrator]

"I have your friend," the man says, "I have your teacher. Now....what can you offer me that would be worth letting you and them go?"

Bear wouldn't find Nina, but she did manage to find signs of a struggle on the grounds and a scrap of Nina's uniform. Investigating the area, she'd find signs that someone had been dragged away from the area and towards some bushes behind the house.

[Byrna Cooper]

Crouching and looking at the ground, Bear slowly made her way to the bushes, preparing a ball as she did so.

"Dominion, I'm following her trail.. I'll keep the line open if I need you.."

[John Hino]

"I have your friend," the man says, "I have your teacher. Now....what can you offer me that would be worth letting you and them go?"

Bear wouldn't find Nina, but she did manage to find signs of a struggle on the grounds and a scrap of Nina's uniform. Investigating the area, she'd find signs that someone had been dragged away from the area and towards some bushes behind the house.

"Your life you sick bastard."

[Narrator]

"You overestimate your position, lad," the man says, "How about I kill one now, to show you how precarious the situation is?"

"You can pick, if you want."

[John Hino]

Fucking coward. he thought.

[Jayda Nightridge]

Jayda kept her eyes glued on the scientist as she held cover and responded to Bear.

"Okay Closer, don't get too near - she's being held by two vamps.. as good as you are, well, extraction team may be required at this stage."

[Byrna Cooper]

"Will do.. I'll keep the channel open. Going quiet now."

Bear crept around the bushes, following the trail and keeping as aware of her environment as possible.

[John Hino]

"That won't be necessary," he said, a knot in his stomach.

[Narrator]

Bear came to a bunker door hidden in the bushes that hadn't been on the plans. It looked like it'd been previously camouflaged but recently disturbed.

"Let me tell you what I want," the man says, turning to face the group. He's an unassuming older man, with thinning grey hair and light blue eyes. There's almost a grandfatherly feel in his light smile, "I want you to take your friends and leave."

"If we were to rattle our spears and fight, I'm sure you would destroy my lab. Much like you destroyed my home," the man says with a small smile, "Interesting but ultimately unproductive."

"So if you just pack up and go home, I will do the same," the man says, "And we can all live for at least another day."

[John Hino]

"And the hostages?"

[Byrna Cooper]

Bear clicked her headset three times, indicating she'd found something important and needed help.

[Jayda Nightridge]

Jayda signalled to Marcus that she was moving to Bear and slipped away up the staircase, once at the top she paused for a moment then stepped through the shadows to where Bear waited.

"Hello."

[Byrna Cooper]

Bear pointed to the bunker entrance as she waited for Marcus and Kaylee.

"Can you get us inside?" She asked, whispering.

[Jayda Nightridge]

"If I can see inside I can get us in there the fun way.. " Jayda's eyes turned black as she searched the doorways seeking out what lay inside the bunker.

"Chances are its shielded too in which case we have to go in via the door."

[Narrator]

The bunker does appear to be shielded. Examination of the door would show that they aren't locked out though.

"I'd gladly hand two of them over to you now and hand the final one over after securing my research," the man says, "I am not an unreasonable man."

"But don't mistake my generosity for weakness, boy. You are in no position to bargain."

[Jayda Nightridge]

"Well it is probably a lot more obvious but we may need to try the door." Jayda shrugged at Bear, pulling her gun out of her holster... again. She tried the door and finding it unlocked gave it a shove.

"Shall we?"
