Charlie stepped out of the vehicle and waited for his partner to join him. He did his best to look non-threatening.

Simon climbed out of the van and stood beside Bear, or Closer as he should start thinking of her. He smiled widely to the few onlookers, trying to be as friendly as possible.

"I think they like our suits."

"We do look pretty snappy, don't we?"

Closer grinned, turning to Enkidu.

"Yes, we get it, you're cute," Ryan smirked, then went serious again. "All right... Talos and Stoneflow, start heading south Closer and Enkidu, northeast, Thorn and Shiver, northwest. Follow any suspicious behavior, I'll give directions over the comms based on what I can see from the air."

Ryan waited for the team to disperse before taking to the sky.

As soon as everyone is out and Seraph confirms there's nothing left behind in the vehicle, the driver pulls out and moves to a safe place to park, should the team need extraction quickly.

Public opinion warms up another degree as the more obvious mutants become clearly visible. As with many 'mutant towns' that have sprouted in major cities, there's almost a reverse discrimination when it comes to what would normally be seen as 'freaks'. Not that the more human-looking mutants are sneered upon, but there is an almost instant sense of solidarity among the more exotic of the local population.

"Yes sir." Anita heads to the Northwest with Charlie, extending her senses a little beyond her usual radius, about 150 yards or so. She can't get much detail with that much extension, but she's focusing on the sensation of any kind of violent fast movement, or the shape of a frowning face. Meanwhile, she'll keep an eye out in her immediate area.

Whistling as she headed Northeast with Enkidu, Closer was soon out of sight. She looked relaxed, but she kept a hand close to her satchel, ready for action.

"Yes sir" Enkidu gave Seraph a little salute. He walked with Closer, keeping his eyes open but very much a tourist in a strange land. If anything he felt like a cop walking the beat in the 50s or something.

As the team splits up, the smaller groups tend to attract less attention. The storekeepers finish opening up for the day and the streets gradually start to fill with more pedestrians. There are still plenty of curious looks but no one seems ready to walk up to the uniformed students.

Ryan quickly gets a bird's-eye-view of the streets. There aren't a lot of cars in the area, which makes it a bit easier to watch for going's on. So far, it seems to be business as usual.

On the ground, Anita's stretched sensations come into 'contact' with a huge range of mutants, some of whom probably aren't even capable of frowning or smiling. She can even feel a tube car rattle past underground, mostly empty but with one car very full.

Anita keeps walking, enjoying the area and smiling at everyone she meets. She's not vigilant 100% of the time, but any time her mind wanders a little, she pulls back to her mission pretty quickly.

A group of kids stumble out of a building near Anita and Charlie, throwing a football down to the pavement and starting to pass it back and forth as they run towards the Memorial Park. One of them kicks it a little hard and it winds up passing very close to the pair..

Meanwhile, Byrna and Simon are passing a flower stall when the young woman behind it hails them, particularly waving Simon over, "Hoy mate! Pick up some lovely flowers for your lovely lady friend!"

The gaggle of kids stumble to a halt near Anita, giggling at her uniform. There's some jostling and nudging among them before the boldest gives in and steps in front of the group, "Thanks! Say, uh, we were wondering, why are you guys wearing those outfits?"

A look of sheer joy lights up Anita's face as she says. "We're the X-Men." She just lets that kind of pass over her for a second, having wanted to say that for years and years.

"The folks at the University sent us over here, ta make sure that things are okay. If ya see anybody not from here causin' trouble, let one of us know, okay?"

The kids let out a dutiful chorus of, "We will!" and the bold one asks, "What's you're name, miss?"

Simon blushes softly, chuckling as he pats his suit in search of his wallet.

"How can I say no? I'm obviously outvoted." He passes the vendor a note he's not entirely sure the value of yet.

A cacophony of accented responses rolls over Anita as the boys rush to impress her with their own names, most of which seem to be typical childhood nicknames. It seems the bold one is nicknamed 'Prince' (and one of the others whispers sotto voce "It's cuz he's got blue blood, innit?"). The Prince regally thwaps the whisperer across the back of his head and kicks the football towards the park again, "Bye Shiver! See you around!" and they rush off in a mad tangle of knees and elbows.

"A man who spares no expense, hey? There's a good guvnor." Simon gets a variety of oddly heavy coins back in change, as well as a nice arrangement of gerbera daisies for Bear in a range of bright colours.

Another tube car passes within Anita's range, this one a little more full than the last. She has a brief shiver of recognition as she 'touches' what might very well be a firearm. With her senses stretched as far as they are she's not totally certain, but she's familiar enough with guns that she's pretty sure it was a medium calibre revolver open and being loaded. The car speeds on before she can narrow her focus down, unfortunately, but there is a stop not too far away.

Anita turns, and runs flat out in the direction of the tube stop, until she can feel that same car again. From there, she'll stop, find something to lean against, and give up her control and sense of her local position to extend her senses over that area as intensely as she can.

After placing the flowers in her hair and the remainder in her satchel, Bear looks around herself, surveying the scene.

After a few moments, she heads off, leading Simon down the street after thanking the flower vendor.

Thankfully the tube car was slowing so Anita is able to catch up. The sprint draws a lot more looks but they mostly turn into confused expressions. As she narrows down her perceptions, she feels a group of fairly burly men muscling their way out of the tube car and onto the platform. Most of them are wearing steel-toed boots and she can feel lengths of pipe and chain under their coats.

Anita's hand goes to her Com. She drops her senses a little, just keeping track of that group now, not feeling every detail.

"Seraph this is Shiver. I have a group of men here with various weapons, including one gun. I'm at the Sherry street station. They're just gettin' off the tube now, comin' topside."

"Everybody, converge on the Sherry Street station. Talos, Enkidu, home in on my comm signal if you need directions.

Closer, get up high, and be ready to start picking off targets. I'm there in less than a minute, Shiver. Be careful."

With that, Ryan relayed the the situation to Lumis over the command frequency and requested any updates available. Then, lighting up, he shot across the sky toward where his visor told him Anita's comm signal was coming from.

Anita considers pulling out her fighting sticks... and then decides that might just escallate things. So she pulls her power in so she can sense every incoming movement within a close range, and stands bravely at the top of the tube station stairs, arms akimbo, so the thugs will see her immediately when they come up.

Apparently the thugs have a similar plan to Anita, at least insofar as they're not overtly displaying weapons. Long coats remain closed over various pieces of metal, including the one revolver Anita twigged into earlier. The thugs aren't gentle about pushing their way through the crowd, but they slow as they near Anita at the top of the steps.

Looking at the com tracker, Bear sprints in the direction of the underground entrance.

Upon reaching the area, she starts climbing an overlooking building's fire escape.

"Seraph, Closer. I'm almost in position. Shiver, I've got you covered."
