Sept 25th-Brunch

[Rachel O'Brien]

"Fuck you." Rachel said, turning her attention to her lunch.

[Victoria Valentine]

"Okay, fine," Victoria said, sighing a bit indulgently. "What is it that is evidently wanted that you're incapable of giving?"

[Rachel O'Brien]

"In case you haven't noticed, Ryan isn't exactly into monogamy."

[Victoria Valentine]

"Hmmm, funny, that's what you keep making people think, too," Victoria said, as if it were the most confusing thing in the world. "Yet, the problem is evidently with him being exactly how you are. I... wow, I really don't know what to say about this one." She smirked, rolling her eyes. "And here you were sitting there yesterday, telling Morgan that the important thing was to talk about what you want. Hypocrite," she said, more teasing than anything else.

Rachel rolled her eyes "I was talking about sex, and you know that. But....from what I've caught in his mind, Ryan wouldn't be cool with his girl sleeping around. I've been there a couple of times, and I'm not going to hook up with a guy who wants to own my body."

[Victoria Valentine]

"Oh my goddess, will you stop being so melodramatic about things? Yes, expectations of faithfulness is 'owning' someone. Can't say he's alone, if I settle down with someone and they go sleeping around, I'll beat the hell out of them myself," Victoria snorted. "So the problem isn't him, it's that you don't think you can keep your legs closed."

[Rachel O'Brien]

"Fuck you. I can be monogamous. But if I am, it'll be because I want to be, not because the person I'm with demands it. And I'm damn well not going to sit at home with my legs crossed while he's off looking for a casual lay."

[Victoria Valentine]

"So... you're saying that you refuse to be in a relationship with someone, based on their behavior while they aren't in a relationship, which, by the way, is markedly similar to your own?"

[Rachel O'Brien]

"Right." Rachel said "As it stands now, everything is copacetic. If one of us started pushing for changes, it'd get ugly fast. All of which ignores the fact that Ryan doesn't want that from me."

[Victoria Valentine]

Victoria smirked. "Good to know that you have it all figured out," she mused, stabbing a piece of chicken from her pasta.

[Rachel O'Brien]

"It doesn't always make me happy, but that is how it is." Rachel said moodily "And I'm not going to publicly humiliate myself by chasing after him."

[Victoria Valentine]

Victoria just chuckled, shaking her head. "So this is as good as it gets, then, I suppose."

[Rachel O'Brien]

"For the moment at least." Rachel replied "I mean, eventually I'll settle down a little. Lumis and Binary seem to have a pretty good thing."

[Victoria Valentine]

"So you want to settle down with someone, yet each of you keep seeing other people. So... as I said, this is as good as it gets. Just with diaper changing added to it, maybe." Victoria was trying not to laugh when Lumis was mentioned.

[Rachel O'Brien]

"I don't care if I'm involved with him or not." Rachel said, sounding thoughtful "Its just....I want my kid to know their father. Working out an arrangement ahead of time to co-parent seems like a good way to do that."

[Victoria Valentine]

Victoria chuckled. "Tell me, does this really seem simpler to you? Coming up with all of the justifications and arrangements instead of just figuring out how to have an actual family?" she asked, extremely amused.

"Yes, it does."
