"Your hair is seriously gorgeous though," Winn says. "Do you, like, use special conditioners or what?"

"Kinda got into the head of someone who was pretty out of it and might have had a little too much to smoke and drink so I lost track of what thoughts belonged to whom. He actually cut his wrists, parents found him and rushed him to the hospital. I just kind of awkwardly stabbed at my hand but it freaked my mom out something fierce when she walked into the kitchen at night to get a glass of water. That whole thing pretty much sucked."

My mom locked herself in the bedroom once I said it for her and dad got stuck between being scared shitless and wanting to slap me. Next day he slammed the brochure for this place on my dresser and threw a suitcase at me."

"Hold still. I don't want to yank your hair too hard by accident," Winn warns. She actually has a surprisingly gentle touch and is pretty good at braiding. No idea where she learned that particular skill.
