Primary Team Insertion Point - Cleaver Square

Postby Narrator » Sat Feb 28, 2009 2:31 pm

Cleaver Square has a number of shops on it, most of which are recently open or opening. There's a nice ice-cream shop at the insertion point but it is naturally closed at this hour.

Anita steps into the Team 1 ready room, and leans against the wall, putting her sticks back away. She licks her lips, and taps a little rythem on the walls with her palms, eager to begin.

Charlie was silent as he went to the ready room. Given his reputation, he figured it would be best for him to act professional and hope no one held his past against him.

((We're not quite at the drop off yet, it's a quick team meeting before we move to the drop off. Just keeping people from having to switch threads twice. ^_^ ))

Anita smiles at Charlie. "Hey, what's up? You ready to bust some heads?"

"No, the media will spin it to say that even though the bad guys made the first move they'll probably say we used to much force to subdue them. That's why I'll be sticking to dropping people with the plant-based sedative I've learned how to generate into my thorns. Not to many people can complain about making assailents fall asleep."

Charlie pulled a seed out of the utility belt on his gear, and threw it on the ground. In a few seconds a 4 foot bamboo shoot was sitting in it's place.

"Simon, trim it up the roots and the leaves on the end and you have a nice fighting staff."

"Naw, I think it's better for appearances if I wasn't walking around with a bat in my hands. We're also doing PR, you know?"

Simon looks rather impressed by Charlie's generosity. "Or not. Thanks." He takes the staff, removing a small utility knife from his belt as he starts to clean it up a bit.

Seeing everyone had arrived (if you haven't posted, assume you're here) Ryan addressed the group. "All right... A few of you I know, a few of you I don't. For those I dont, my name's Seraph. I would've liked to hold a group training so we could get familiar with how each other operates, but that's not in the cards I guess."

"So while we get equipment sorted out, everyone give your name and power briefly stated, especially anything new since I last saw you if it applies. As for me, i'm a flying energy caster."

He held he other eyepiece in his hand, debating on who to assign it to.

"And for the record, I think he's right. The less weapons right now, the better. We're probably going to be plastered all over the news when something happens."

((if you aren't here to post your little summary, do it when you make your first reply. We'll all assume it happened before we deployed.))

"Better to be safe then sorry, lad." He said to Simon.

"I'm Charlie Wallace, but I guess for the mission I'll be going by Thorn. I'm a plant manipulator capable of spontaniously growing plants, making freak plants, and coating my body in a symbiotic plant armor."

"I'm a sensory-mutant, I can keep tabs by non-physical touch up ta a hundred yards all the time, or a city block for short periods. I can stay out of the way of most stuff that people try ta do to me, and I'm accurate with my own stuff. I'm trained with guns and been practicin' hand to hand with Logan. I'm in good shape, I can do a fast fifty yard dash and a good time on the mile."

Bear entered the ready room, her dark uniform contrasted by the bright, tye-died satchel she carried crossover her shoulder.

Most of her gear was in place, save the eyepiece, since her sight was excellent without it. Pushing her hair up into a bun, she looked remarkably different than her usual appearance.

"I'm Byrna Cooper, but I go by 'Closer' when all dressed up. And I throw things very hard, very accurately, and very fast."

"Simon Kipling, I guess you can all call me Enkidu. I've got fast reflexes, lots of strength, agility, acrobatics, all that good stuff. Oh, and I have gripping feet and a prehensile tail. So I guess I'm the leapy-climby-swingy guy."

Simon shrugged softly. "Depends on the building. If they have lots of ledges, windows, a fire escape, that sort of thing? Pretty damn fast. Not to brag, of course.

"If it's one of those industrial warehouses without windows and just a sheer brick wall, that's a whole other story. That's some hard work."

Ryan frowned, then nodded. Then he handed Simon the other eyepiece. "You seem to be the most mobile person we have other than me, so you can probably get the best use out of this. It tells you the controls when you put it on and power it on."

Simon took the eyepiece with a small. "Thanks boss. I'll try to put it to good use." He starts putting on before smiling at Bear.

"If there's something to hold onto? Absolutely. It's a little slower going but I make a good elevator in a pinch."

Ryan nodded. "We're going to be assinged to split up and fan out from the deployment point. Initially, at least, i want to keep people grouped up a little. Enkidu, Closer, you two stick together as suggested, Shiver and Thorn, you two stick together, too. Talos, you're with Flowstone. When there's reason to split up more, we will, but there's no reason to be without backup before it's necessary. I'll be airborn, so I'll be able to keep an eye on everyone and direct you to trouble points, and I should be able to get anywhere to help out pretty quickly."

"Any other questions we can take care of en route. Move out."

"Got it boss." Anita walks quickly to the van, which is an official X-Team vehicle, with a logo on the side and everything. She piles in the back and waits for it to carry her off.

The vehicle stops in an open stretch near the corner to allow the team to disembark. A group of uniformed young men and women definitely attracts some attention in the area. At first, hackles clearly go up, but the reaction softens when the boldly emblazoned X symbols become clear. At a guess, most of the shopkeepers and other business owners are happy to see the X-Team while the people on the street have more of a mixed reaction. Everyone is curious as to what is going on.

Anita climbs out of the van and helps the positive reaction along by smiling broadly at the locals and waving vigorously. She turns back to Seraph and awaits orders, pairing up with her buddy right away.

The young women get a few waves back, and a few laughs. One or two scowls seem to solidify as well, but more from suspicion than real hostility.
