I13DT - Digging Into Mysteries

Up until recently maintained as a museum, the childhood home of the Braddock family has been pressed into service as additional housing and classroom space for the Institute. Additionally, the increased demands have led to the main ballroom being converted into a cafeteria for both the Institute and those University students on a meal plan. Student reactions have been mixed, and reports of paranormal activity are as of yet unsubstantiated.

Miranda was poking around on a computer in the library, researching red crows and other strange things. So far she was having a hard time finding the right search terms to get relevant information, but she kept trying anyway.

The most common term that keeps popping up is Badb, meaning just 'crow,' though often it was 'Badb Catha,' which is 'Battle Crow.'

Miranda also finds several references to the red and the green as recurring themes in Irish myth, often representing the Sidhe of Munster and Connacht, respectively.

A quick search on Badb leaves Miranda scratching her head. "Badb is female, not male. So... that's weird."

She begins digging into the Sidhe of Munster, trying to find out what significance the 'red' might have.

The Sidhe are the hidden hills of Ireland, where the Tuatha de Danaan retreated after their defeat by the Milesians, who became the modern people of Ireland. The sources she finds indicate that this was an important part of a shift in Irish myth, where the Tuatha de Danaan were no longer identified as gods but fairies. The king of the Sidhe of Munster was also the son of the Daghda, and thus his successor as the leader of the Tuatha de Danaan. He served as the one who brokered the peace with the Milesians, and one of his concessions was the retreat into the Sidhe.

Miranda dug deeper into the son of the Daghda, tugging nervously at her hood as she read.

The Daghda's son was named Bodb Derg, and upon assuming the kingship of the Tuatha de Danaan there was dissent as to the legitimacy of his claim to the throne. In particular the god of the sea, Lir, who refused to swear fealty to him.

"So some of this is making sense now, but not why he knows Mum. Of course, this could be just something playing tricks on me. Maybe even my own head."
