Physical Description: A large youth with a tapered reptilian tail and a short muzzle with sharp teeth & forked tongue; his black hair the only decidedly human feature. He is covered in green scales and his eyes are blue with slitted pupils. When his second skin is enabled, he is pitch black and his eyes are black with slitted red pupils.

Power Explanation:
- Nightvision
- Trauma-Based Adaptation - The ability to adapt new abilities from physical trauma, usually involving injuries from energy exposure. That which does not kill him makes him stronger.
- - Superhuman Strength - Base adaption from general physical trauma.
- - Darkforce Armor - He is able to coat his body in a dense black substance that acts as a second skin. This second skin protects against piercing weaponry (including bullets) by reducing the force of the impact (similar to kevlar). Strong sources of light damage this second skin. Gained from exposure to dangerous levels of light. When his second skin is enabled, he is pitch black and his eyes are black with slitted red pupils.

History: John's father, Kazekane Hino, came to America 30 years ago when his employers, Yokoshima Electronics, decided to open a U.S. office. It was there he both met his bride-to-be, one Billie May Gunderson, and rose to V.P. of the US division of the company. They then had children.

However this son was quite obviously a mutant; his tail, claws, and face a dead giveaway. To add to their misfortune, John was born with a high sensitivity to light (his 2nd skin had yet to develop). He grew up tucked away from the world in the family home. He only had his sister, his tutor, and the internet as a refuge from the loneliness.

When he was 14 he and his mother were kidnapped. He was on a trip to the doctor when it happened. Another car struck them and in the confusion they were led into a van and taken. His father was later sent a video of John being tortured by sun lamps burning his skin. It was during the making of a second video that his true ability surfaced. He then broke free and managed to escape. He got help from police, but sadly his mother had already been dead for 24 hours.

His father reluctantly sent him to the Academy of Tomorrow. John would be given better care there than Mr. Hino could provide. After graduation, John enrolled at XU.

At XU: John has absorbed the partial essence of an astral creature which acts as a mental "gaurd dog."
He has since outgrown his severe weakness to light.

Dark colored mutants are the new black.

Seems like a decent tank, I don't see any big issues, I've already spoken to you elsewhere about the social issues.

So long as the discussion around distrustful characters in a primarily social setting has happened, I'm fine with the concept.
