I13DT - There Are Some Things You Should Know

"Well, I would imagine that I already have something from both of you. I would guess my vision comes from Mom, and my telepathy comes from you," she said. "Though neither ability seems to be as strong as yours."

[Nailah Weaver]

"You're also much younger than we are. At your age my precognition was just starting to set in and most of what I had to deal with was my physical mutation."

[Samantha McManus]

"And what I could do at sixteen was very little, if I'm truthful."

[Miranda Weaver]

"I'll keep that in mind. I..." She muttered something that sounded remarkably like 'damn it'. "Sorry, vision's moved."

[Nailah Weaver]

"That's alright. I know what that's like."

[Miranda Weaver]

"I think I'm in my room this time," she said, turning her head. "There's my shrine. Unless someone else has built one with my own artwork."

[Nailah Weaver]

"What's this about a shrine?"

[Miranda Weaver]

"It's nothing major. Still feeling out that bit. I'd be willing to show it to you some time if you want," she said, still obviously not seeing their living room.

[Samantha McManus]

"Just interesting that you took the initiative on that."

[Nailah Weaver]

"I'd love to take a look."

[Miranda Weaver]

"Kayla's almost never in the room, so I could show it to you pretty much whenever."

[Samantha McManus]

"So what inspired this shrine?"

[Miranda Weaver]

"My own research. The possibility that there's something or someone out there who listens is... well... comforting."

[Nailah Weaver]

"It really is. And don't let anybody tell you otherwise." she says, reminding herself who Miranda's roommate is.

[Miranda Weaver]

"I may be doing it wrong, but like I said, I'm just sort of feeling my way through it."

[Samantha McManus]

"I think... that never really stops."

[Miranda Weaver]

"You too? I know about Mom's religion, but I've not heard about yours."

[Samantha McManus]

"It's... a bit complicated. I'm willing to talk about it, but not all of it may make sense."

[Miranda Weaver]

"If you don't think I'm ready for it, I'll respect your call on it."

[Nailah Weaver]

"I know you've been looking into the mythologies of the Mediterranean, but I'm not sure how far. Have you read about the concept of Apotheosis? Deities like Ariadne and Psyche?"

[Miranda Weaver]

"I understand the basics of the concept. It seemed kind of strange, but open mind and all that."

[Samantha McManus]

"She's the one who has the most detailed thoughts on this," Sam concedes.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Keep in mind that a lot of these concepts emerged in a civilization that had no concept of mutants. Actual powers get tangled up with beliefs and faith and became indistinguishable. And now people in tune with the Astral find themselves drawn to these things. Some more so than others..."

[Miranda Weaver]

Miranda leaned back and folded her hands in her lap as she looked at Nailah. Her vision seemed to have snapped back to her current location.

[Samantha McManus]

"And I suppose the way she'd put it is that I've... gotten tangled up in a myth."

[Nailah Weaver]

"In a way." she chuckles. "I mostly wear my astral shape on my sleeve, or my wings as the case may be, but if you try to not just look at Sam but really try to see her maybe you can tell."

[Miranda Weaver]

Miranda turned to look at Sam and gave the distinct impression that she was taking a long slow blink, even though she really wasn't capable of that. Sam would be able to sense her Astral Presence spike just a bit though as her vision moved away from the physical.

The first thing that's easy to notice is that the flock is all around them, perching on many of the surfaces in the room, their many eyes regarding Miranda. Seen head-on, Samantha looks rather like herself, though a bit more wild-haired and fey, clad in a mantle of black feathers. There seem to be two other presences with her, one to each side, though they're difficult to focus upon.

"Easy now, the Astral can be overwhelming."

[Miranda Weaver]

"Your superhero name makes sense now," she said audibly. Her own black and red avatar was faint since she wasn't fully projecting.

[Samantha McManus]

"A shapeshifting Irish warrior goddess. I suppose in some way, I just... fit."

[Miranda Weaver]

She returned to the real world. "Even though I've been focusing on the Mediterranean, it's hard to miss the Morrigan in any overview."

[Nailah Weaver]

"What this means to you is entirely for you to decide. Some might say that prayers and rituals are just a way to draw the attention of a powerful telepath, but I think such a clinical approach robs these things of meaning and that is all they ultimately are. A way to give meaning to things."

[Miranda Weaver]

"To be honest, I discarded the Morrigan out of hand. No offense, Mum," she said. "She's not the sort of..." She dug around her head for the word, "... patron I was looking for."

[Samantha McManus]

"I wasn't expecting it of you, any more than I was expecting it of her."

[Nailah Weaver]

"That's probably for the best anyway."

[Miranda Weaver]

"Right now I have a couple of possibilities and I'm not sure if I'll stay with both of them, but they felt similar enough in my reading that I felt comfortable with them."

[Samantha McManus]

"Of course, when we were in your mind we did find out that you take after me a bit, I suppose."

[Miranda Weaver]

"Really? I wouldn't mind visiting there sometime to see it."

[Nailah Weaver]

"We met three aspects of you in there. The Seer, the Huntress and the Archivist. It'd be interesting to see if your conscious mind would coalesce into one or speak through all three like Sam does."

[Miranda Weaver]

"Interesting. So you talked to the three of them?"
