I13DT - Fishy Chips

[ASHLIE]

"Where did you acquire this chip again?"

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Oh, bloody hell. The dots all connect."

"We were at an auto expo. A man bumped into Rogers, and I found this on her afterwards."

[ASHLIE]

"He has someone on the outside trying to track her down." she concludes.

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Best theory so far, yes."

[ASHLIE]

"What should we do about it?"

[Deirdre Quinn]

"I'm calling Rogers in," she says as she pulls her phone out of her pocket.

[Allison Rogers]

"Dee, to what do I owe the pleasure?" Allison asked when she answered the phone.

[Deirdre Quinn]

"About how high up Michael O'Dell's arse did you put a bug?"

[Allison Rogers]

"We ruined him. The guy had ties to the Irish mob. We didn't think we got all the assets, but there's only so much you can do before you try even the judge's patience."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"He was a significant creditor to a company that went under, whose technologies are rather close to the device that was planted on you."

[Allison Rogers]

"Wonderful. He was a vindictive bastard. Burned down the office of one of his accountants to keep us from getting to the records. I could never prove that in court, of course."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Seems to be a locator beacon. It's pinging out its coordinates regularly."

[Allison Rogers]

"So they wanted to know where I was... assuming this is them and not some random strangeness."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"This isn't widely available technology."

[Allison Rogers]

"Well, shit."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"I can destroy it fairly easily. If you really want to have some fun, we could send out a signal in the same format with false coordinates."

[Allison Rogers]

"There are only a few reasons I can think of that that bastard would want to track me for. None of them are good."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"I don't doubt, but if we direct them someplace that's easy to monitor, or inform the police of where we're sending them, it all works out nicely."

[Allison Rogers]

"Pick some place safe. I'd hate to send this down on anyone else."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Naturally."

"By the by, you have ASHLIE to thank for catching this thing in the act."

[Allison Rogers]

"I owe her one then... what do you get an AI?"

[ASHLIE]

"Can I keep the chip?" she chimes in, directly into the phone-line apparently.

[Allison Rogers]

Allison is apparently a little surprised, but after a bit she says, "Um... yeah... sure."

"As I said, once I've de-fanged it, you can."

[Allison Rogers]

"Anything else I should know?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Unless you're planning on bringing in your big green Chumpawumba-loving friend, I think we're good for now."

[Allison Rogers]

"Unfortunately all we've got is a really nice string of coincidences. I might could make a case of it, but more than likely we'd get dismissed."
