On the beach

And it's almost as if the ocean is staring back at her. At least for a moment she'd have the strangest feeling of being watched somehow.

No answer except the waves crashing on the beach as a bank of fog slowly settles over the beach.

The fog keeps settling on the beach around her. It's quickly becoming thicker and thicker, but then again, this is Britain so that's normal for autumn right?

"Mariuset..." the sea wind blows through the uniform grey that's quickly fading out the landscape.

It's hard to even tell just where the water surface is with all this fog. Of course the entire ocean gives off a faint sense of the various life-forms swimming around in it, especially towards the bottom where all kinds of algae grow in the muddy sea-floor riddled with tiny lifeforms. Occasionally something seems to move through the thick background radiation but it's probably just a fish skimming the ocean floor for said tiny lifeforms.

There's the occasional splash of water as the waves break. There's something unsettling about the sound emanating from the uniform grey of the fog.

Ryan frowned, scanning the area. "I... did, yes."

"Wait here," he said. Wings seemed to appear in mid-flap with a flash of light, then with another flap he sent himself gliding over the water.

Ryan disappears into the fog almost immediately from Mariuset's and Melody's point of view. There's still a faint glow but that too disappears quickly.

As Ryan glides over the water close to the surface he'd suddenly sense something big rising up from the bottom of the sea behind him and rushing off towards the shore.

Melody nodded--she'd heard the voice as well. She stayed close to Mari, her eyes glowing subtly with energy as she prepared for something.

No no no no no no no... "LOOK OUT!" Ryan shouted as he did a tight turn, darting back toward the shore and the thing that was now charging it. He was sure it was still underwater, but he started to aim a blast at it anyway. With luck, it'd surface and get hit, or even get scared off.

"Get off the beach, run! Run for the school!" Melody shouted taking several steps back and pushing Mari back with her as she formed a large bomb in either hand.

Something large bursts out from the water. At first it's just a squirming mass, partially hidden by the fog and the disturbed water, but as it pushes itself onto the beach it's shape becomes slightly more distinct. It's wearing shredded remnants of what Mariuset might recognize as the robes of the High-Priest of Set and it's arms still look vaguely Lemurian. The creature wastes no time in going straight after Mariuset, disregarding everything else in it's path, which in this case mostly means Melody.

Ryan was flying in at top speed, still firing at the thing even as he arced around it. He didn't know what he'd have time to do, really. Swoop in and fly Mari away from the water? Get between her and the... what the fuck was that? Get between them and take it on himself?

Either way, he came around for a dive, either to pull Mari back or to start fighting up close. "Get the l- tentacles!" Ryan shouted to Melody, correcting himself when he got a brief look at how it was conveying itself.
