[ASHLIE]

"Or they are attempting to compromise campus security by making you build gadgets with hidden backdoor functions." One of the robotic arms performing maintenance swivels around and focuses tries to focus it's camera on the metal spheres orbiting Cal.

[Calvin Strong]

Cal followed the gaze, frowning. "I don't... THINK that had anything to do with them," he admitted, a bit uncertainly. "I don't know how they'd put a back door into it, I wrote the programming myself from scratch."

[ASHLIE]

"Some of my chassis utilizes hardcoded programming independent from the software. Please be careful." she says, her drone finishing assembling itself as her torso closes up and her eyes flicker to life.

[Calvin Strong]

"I'm... always careful," Cal said, now sounding much less sure. Ashlie would detect a great increase in network traffic as he started looking into it. Trying to get himself back on track, he started looking for more components.

[ASHLIE]

"I don't know what exactly you're building or where you obtained the plans for it, but please be careful."

[Calvin Strong]

"Oh, I'm making an experimental quantum amplifier for the singularity generator," Cal said, as if it was nothing.

"Please elaborate."

[Calvin Strong]

"Oh, right. Singularity generator. I point, the singularity opens..." He pointed his staff at the wall, opening a portal back to his room. "Only... there has to be a way to do MORE with this. I mean, this is a lot more limited than what he had in his facility, and what I think he might have had in related tech. So I need more power and control."

[ASHLIE]

Ashlie turns her sensor-suite head towards the portal and various readings showing on the monitors shoot off the charts and start flashing red.

"Extrapolated potential for catastrophic reality failure in a larger than 10 yard radius detected." she notes calmly.

[Calvin Strong]

"I know, but I haven't gotten it right yet," Cal said. "Obviously there's some fine-tuning, but there has to be a way to do it."

[ASHLIE]

"Please elaborate. You appear to have accomplished a sufficiently large and stable anomaly for transportation."

[Calvin Strong]

"It's still limited. And it's crude. I have to project it onto a surface, and I have to actually have something to open it at both ends. I keep a projector in my room just to make return-trips easy, but to get places, I end up having to send one of these guys to carry the signal," he said gesturing at the orbs hovering around him. "And there has to be more it can do. I'm tunneling through space right now. Didn't this guy have a way to punch through to other dimensions?"

[ASHLIE]

The lines of code rapidly scrolling on the various monitors suddenly go all kinds of crazy.

"The integrity of the spoke must be maintained. Dimensional barriers have been reestablished. Attempts to break the Keystone must not be allowed to proceed."

[Calvin Strong]

"It was just an example," Cal said quickly, "I mean, what would I want in another dimension? But that douche must be able to do it, so it'd be kind of dumb for us to not be able to chase him if we need to."

[ASHLIE]

"If required the Corpsman and me can use the Keystone to open spatial displacement fields from within the Lighthouse."
