X-Team Assignments

The School website now has an active link for X-Teams. Each person who signed up in the morning received an email with a link to the following page.

The page is currently a list of teams and team leaders, with a short message from Lumis at the top.

"Welcome to the XLU X-Team program. I would apologize for activating you instantly and for an emergency situation, but that is in fact the whole point of having an X-Team. Welcome to no notice, and high pressure. Some of you will no doubt find this situation impossible and leave the team. That's not a problem, not everyone is suited for this kind of life. However, this is an opportunity unmatched by any other job, anywhere in the world. Your assignments to teams are below. Any questions go directly to me, we don't have a chain of command yet. Team leaders, I will be disappointed if you don't have questions."

Investigation, probably better suited for me then security. It would help to know what I'd be investigating, any clues, or is this one of those looking for a needle in a haystack things?

Also on the page linked by Lumis is a tab labelled "Logistics". Clicking on it leads to a message from Binary.

"I will be handling requisitions and materiel for the X-Teams. Confirmed team members will have a uniform provided within 24 hours of acceptance and a small selection of stock items are available immediately; radio transceivers are always a safe request from team leaders. Until a chain of command is established, any member may make a request directly but priority will go to team leaders. Ultimately I will be the judge of whether a request is reasonable or not, but I urge you to treat this resource as a tool rather than a crutch. As X-Men, you will often be thrust into situations where you cannot rely on anything outside your own ingenuity and power, and requisition requests will be included as part of your evaluation process."

The basic specs for the uniforms and standard communication earpieces (which are flexible enough to be held in place for all but the most extreme of mutations) are posted on the page along with a few other basic pieces of kit. The latter include high-quality still and video cameras, sample kits, first aid kits, and the like.

Another email is sent out to the X-Team list.

"There has been an update to the Team Rosters to reflect some signups that came in later in the day. Team Leaders, please check to see if your team has an additional member."

Merle emails-in a request for any ranged weapon that isn't a gun. Even a futuristic enough looking slug-thrower.

A response comes back to Merle's request. "For the current mission, no lethal weapons or ammunition will be issued. If you need a weapon, the most that will be issued will be riot-rounds."

Harold shoots Lumis an e-mail: "Sir, when are we to report for duty?"

An email, labeled as an initial requisition, came in from Ryan, requisitioning communication gear for his team, as well as eyepieces with telescopic, sensory display, and digital recording functions for at most all of his team except Madrox (who wouldn't need it) and at least himself so that he could monitor the situations from the air when needed.

"Riot rounds will be fine. I don't intend on killing anyone..."

An email, labeled as an initial requisition, came in from Ryan, requisitioning communication gear for his team, as well as eyepieces with telescopic, sensory display, and digital recording functions for at most all of his team except Madrox (who wouldn't need it) and at least himself so that he could monitor the situations from the air when needed.

Ryan receives a reply indicating that the communication earpieces will be waiting with the uniforms, and that two surveillance/recording eyepieces are available from stock. There is an addendum that, pending other team requests, additional optical units may be issued.

Given the current mission parameters and equipment certification level, this request is temporarily denied. Please pursue directed energy weapon certification before re-issuing this request.

For now, Rick simply requested some sort of discreet earpeice for each member of his group, in case they all needed to hear something at once or were caught without cell phones (and since they woldn't be getting uniforms that would come with them in the first place). He also requested one of each of the kits (better safe than sorry), asking if they could fit into a backback or two, or otherwise be carried around without arousing any kind of suspicion.

Another e-mail came in from Ryan, marked a supplemental requisition, acknowledging the receipt of the last reply and further requesting compact first-aid kits for each team member.

After checking the team listings Sara realized almost everyone had a codename and decided to send of a quick email to Lumis.
"sorry for not putting it on the application to start with but I hadn't thought of one yet so if it's possible I'd like you to put in 'Flowstone' as my codename."
