We Need To Talk

Renovated from the Manor's original guest house, the majority of faculty offices are housed here.

Natalya blinked at the erasing paperwork. Then her hair went pure white as she dropped the temperature around the paperwork well below zero.

The process had been slow to begin with, but any sort of analysis (minus perhaps 'just looking at it') would show that the rate had crawled to near, but not quite, zero levels.

"Damn it," she frowned, picking up her phone. "This is Romanov. I need some of the brain trust from the labs to come to my office. Stanton at the very least, Bowen if he's handy. Tell them to dress warmly."

Natalya opened the door, her hair still white and frost on various pieces of equipment around the documents she was trying to hold in stasis. "Thanks for coming."

"Yeah," she said, gesturing towards the papers and documents. "These documents are erasing themselves. The epicenter seems to be here," she indicated the box where the agents' files had been placed. "I'm not sure what's going on, but I've managed to nearly halt it for the moment."

"Do you know where he was keeping these things? When he got them?" She motioned and the frost that had gathered picked itself up and slithered into a small pile well away from everything else or as away from everything else as it could get in the office.

"Well, I'd still like to get these into the lab and see what you can figure out. We're dealing with organization that have the ability to mess with things on a cellular level and I wouldn't put anything past them. How do you want to do this? I'm not keen to just pick these things up."

A little while later she comes back with gloves, tongs and the tubes they'd grabbed from the Black Air facility.

"They're a little small but most of these things should fit in there."

In the lab Sara transfers most of the tubes into liquid nitrogen for storage before getting out one of the papers that so happens to be Will's birth certificate and transfers it into a vacuum chamber.

"Can you keep it frozen in there?" she asks Natalya.

Natalya looked up from where she was making notes about something. Her hair had reverted to blue as Sara had finished getting things isolated, but it rolled back to white as she concentrated on the vacuum chamber, dropping the temperature. "Let me know if it's too cold."

"Let's go ahead and say there's no 'too cold' here." she says as she takes the chamber and inserts it into an electron microscope, tapping a couple buttons on the console next to it and bringing up the view of the greatly magnified piece of paper.

ZOooooom SCIENCE

There certainly wasn't any evidence of any ink having ever been on said paper -- but there WAS something. Something almost...viral.

"Okay this makes no sense. How could there have never been any ink on this? I've seen it." she mumbles and adjusts a couple settings to try and clear up the image.

ZOOOM Science.

There was definitely something THERE, interacting with the paper on a molecular level, but only where the important info was -- name, date of birth, etc. You'd think it'd erase the entire paper, but no...

"We'll see," Natalya said, her forehead creasing in concentration as the temperature in the chamber began dropping rapidly. It was cold enough for the chill to be felt beyond the walls of the vacuum chamber. "I'm not going to be able to hold this for long, so take your pictures while you can."

Sara keeps her eyes on the temperature indicator and when it seems like it's about to bottom out hits a switch to take a snapshot with the massive microscope array.

I suppose the closest description to what it looks like would be a virus of some sort -- though obviously artificial in nature. There were quite a few examples there, all focused around the areas of key information, as opposed to, say, the line just reading "Birth Certificate".

There was a strange reading of chronal flux with them, too.
