DT12 - Bre- er, Lunch. Yeah, lunch.

[Alex Carpenter]

Alex sat down at the lunch table, having skipped his late morning classes. It seemed to make sense to him... he would've fallen asleep in them anyway, so he might as well go back to his room and just sleep, right? He'd make it up to the teachers later. If they even noticed he hadn't been there. Probably wouldn't, he thought, somewhat unhappily.

Still slightly groggy, he made his way through the food line, a bit thrown off by the fact that it felt like he should be eating breakfast. Still, he managed to shake that off by the time he took his seat at the usual table.

[Benjamin Brant]

Ben takes a seat across from Alex, "Are you doing okay?'

[Alex Carpenter]

"Huh? Oh, yeah, just waking up," he answered. "Did I miss anything important in class? I was way too beat to go. Probably would get in more trouble for falling asleep in class than skipping."

[Benjamin Brant]

"A few things," Ben says, "Don't worry, I always make copies of my notes. I'll lend 'em to you."

[Alex Carpenter]

"Thanks," he said sincerely. "I owe you one."

[Benjamin Brant]

"No problem," Ben says, "If no one ever needed them, there wouldn't be a point."

"So, why are you so tired? Are you staying out late or something?"

[Alex Carpenter]

"Nah, just haven't been able to sleep much," he said. "Messed up week and everything, y'know?"

[Benjamin Brant]

Ben nods, "You want to talk about it?"

[Alex Carpenter]

Alex chuckled. "Ugh, don't even know where to start," he said with a grin. "Little sleep and it all doesn't seem as serious, though, y'know?"

[Benjamin Brant]

"Gosh, I know what that's like."

He actually said 'gosh'. Without a hint of irony.

"Here's the thing though," Ben says, "If it's bothering you, it's serious to me. No matter what it is."

Fucking hell. This kid.

[Alex Carpenter]

"Thanks," Alex said, sincerely. "Really, it's okay, though. Just the way everyone's been fighting ever since we all got back in the right bodies, and that was a whole mess in itself..."

[Benjamin Brant]

"Yeah, there has been some sort of weird tension after all that," Ben admits.
