I12DT - Alex's Room - Apology, Pt 2

[Theresa McMasters]

Why does it seem like every time I come here to talk to him, I'm here to apologize? Because I'm an ass, that's why.

Theresa knocked quietly on Alex's door.

[Alex Carpenter]

It was a few minutes before Alex answered the door. "Oh, hi," he said, a sort of 'this is a trap' wariness on his face.

[Theresa McMasters]

Theresa held up her hands, "I know I'm your least favorite person right now, but hear me out. I want to apologize."

[Alex Carpenter]

"Don't know about 'least favorite person,' but okay, go on," Alex said, now sounding a little confused. Didn't think I was the one she needed to apologize to...

[Theresa McMasters]

"I've been a bitch. I've made Brigid's life difficult and because of that, I've made your life difficult. You didn't ask for it and you certainly didn't deserve it. It's my fault and... well... I'm sorry."

[Alex Carpenter]

"Well, okay," Alex said, rather thrown by all this. "Just... stop making their lives difficult and the problem's solved, right?"

[Theresa McMasters]

"Hopefully. I'm planning on it anyway," she said. "I need to apologize to them too, but I figured you deserved an apology too."

[Alex Carpenter]

"Don't know if it's your fault. Brigid can do what she wants, you know?"

[Theresa McMasters]

"I suppose. This made sense when I decided to do it, I swear."

[Alex Carpenter]

"Lot of that going around," he said. "Wouldn't worry much. No one listens to me," he chuckled.

[Theresa McMasters]

"Maybe more people should."

[Alex Carpenter]

At that one, Alex just laughed. And laughed. And laughed. "Right. I'll just hold my breath for that one."

[Theresa McMasters]

"Well, that obviously wouldn't be good. You might turn blue." She smiled.

[Alex Carpenter]

"Nah, just grey and shiny. I can hold my breath a really long time."

[Theresa McMasters]

"I did notice you've been doing a lot of different stuff in power control. Holding your breath one of them?"

[Alex Carpenter]

"Just don't breathe when I'm metal. I mean, except to talk. Sorta. It's kind of weird."

[Theresa McMasters]

"That seems to be a common phrase when we talk about our powers."

[Alex Carpenter]

"Well, it's usually true. That part I've gotten used to, though."

[Theresa McMasters]

"I'm still getting used to some of the bits and pieces of mine. Some of them are weirder than others."
