"Well... no," her eyes dropped again. "It's just been... well... I blamed her, she blamed me. I'm not sure anyone's really felt like apologizing."

[Ryan Gabriel]

"Well... were you right?" he asked, apparently reasonably.

[Theresa McMasters]

Coming from anyone in her peer group, that question might have made Theresa defensive. As it was, she sagged a little. "I... I thought I was. But I'm not sure being right is worth it anymore."

[Ryan Gabriel]

"And you have just said the very thing that's made my life easier for about six years now," he chuckled.

[Theresa McMasters]

"I... God... this sucks... It doesn't take long to screw stuff up, does it?"

[Ryan Gabriel]

"It can happen pretty quickly," he admitted. "The more you do it, the faster you can recognize how to fix it before things go nuclear, though."

[Theresa McMasters]

"Did you just advocate screwing things up more often?" She attempted a smile. It sort of worked.

[Ryan Gabriel]

"They aren't paying me enough to demand perfection," he said, smirking at her.

[Theresa McMasters]

"I really appreciate this, by the way. I'm sure you guys don't hear that enough."

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan laughed a little at that. "I usually just assume that it's implied. That's the best way to stay sane. That and sadistic tests."

[Theresa McMasters]

"Nothing's more sadistic than Sackville's extra credit. And no, I'm not asking for you to up the ante."
