Sept 22nd - XUB 1 - Early Evening

After dropping off the things they got from their mission, Marcus headed into the XUB around five. He plopped down in one of the booths and sighed. That mission was a little unnerving. When a waitress came by who ordered himself some Tequila. It was the after mission drink afterall.

Rick came in a few minutes later, waving to Marcus as soon as he saw him. He made his way through the establishment and sat down on the opposite side of the booth. "Hey love. I got your text."

"Hey! How's it going?" He asked, smiling over at him. "Want me to get you something to drink?"

"Hmm...yeah, just some coffee. Sounds great." He romoved his jacket and set it down next to the wall. "And I'm doing fine I guess. But who cares about that; how did it go?"

He waved down the bartender and ordered a coffee for Rick. "Kinda shitty I guess. Part of the goal was to capture one of the vampires and the only one decided to off herself. Knife to the throat."

"Damn...well, at least that's one less to deal with I guess. Did you have to actually fight her or anything?"

"Yeah. The others engaged her. Jayda put a bullet in her kneecap and I guess she gave up when she was surrounded. I wasn't expecting that you know? That whatever they're doing is so crazy they'd rather kill themselves instead of giving us information?" He shook his head. "People are weird."

"That is weird. What the hell could be so important?" He took a sip oh his coffee, and decided to add a bit of sugar. "You couldn't have known that she would do that, though."

"That's what I want to know. Supposedly, they just have altered X-genes too. I could understand if they were really just some magical clan of vampires but that's just not the case." He set an arm on the table and rested his head on top of it. "Sometimes I wonder if I should of just went pro. See if the major leagues were a bit more progressive now about letting mutants play."

"You've never cared much for this superhero business," he mused aloud, smirking slightly before taking another sip of coffee. "But I guess any species could have mutations, if you think about it. What could the one you fought do? I mean, besides the usual Dracula stuff."

He grinned. "True. I never really did. Come on..we could be rich. Bury ourselves in fancy stuff. Journalism? Ha. I could buy your way into anything. You could be my spouse on one of those trash TV shows spending all my money. Life styles of the rich and mutated. Actually, that shows way old isn't it?"

He glanced off to the side in thought. "I don't think she did anything crazy. She was just strong and fast like they're supposed to be."

Rick slumped, looking unamused. "Oh yeah, exactly what I want to be. A househusband. I can sit at home all day, watching soap operas and The View." He rolled his eyes, but then grinned again. "Journalism is just something I wanna do because it sounds...well, interesting. Especially photojournalism. Who knows, maybe I can even make a difference with my reporting someday. Crazy, I know, but it's worth a shot, eh? And besides-I'd be a pretty durable journalist. I'm sure someone would find me useful."

He chuckled. "You know I was teasing. You'd never live something like that down. The awesome dual income would be nice though." His eyes drifted shut in thought. "Besides, I'm sure your work would do a lot. Not to mention, you're like the only person that could go into those places you 'really aren't supposed' to. Like wars and stuff. Go spinning in, take a few pictures, spin out." He laughed some.

"Part of me just wanted things to be easier for us than..'this'" He said, kind of implying everything. Marcus always talked like this at some point though.

"And yet, you chose to go here. And to stay at Xavier's the whole way through. You have to admit you at least like it a little bit. Besides, we have friends here, people we graduated with. I enjoy it here." He paused for a moment, reaching out across the table as he took one of Marcus' hands in his own. "I especially like being here with you."

He gave Rick's hand a squeeze and looked up into his eyes. "Well, I wanted to be by you again. Sucked graduating before you, ya know? Living outside the dorms sucked. No more getting to sneak into your room at night. Not to mention, I can't let the Tornado go off super heroeing without me. Possibly getting hurt even though you can't.."

"I can. Just have to run out of steam first. And you're no slouch yourself, in case you haven't noticed. Not like three years ago." He smiled a bit, looking back into Marcus' eyes. He almost felt a kiss coming on, but decided to hold off on the PDA for somewhere a little less, well, public.

"Ah..don't remind me. I couldn't do anything back then. I felt like a character in that one Disney Movie. High School High I think. Stamp side kick on my forehead." He sighed. "That's still a little true now though. Only I'm sidekick numero uno now." The smile on his face turned into a grin. He didn't really have much else to say. He was just enjoying who he was looking at.

"It's true. I touch people and depending on their power, they become crazy strong. And even if it's just not their power, I still get a pretty good physical boost." He smiled at the thought. "I guess so. Or super villains. Thirty foot unstoppable tornado destroying the entire city."

He leaned in, lifting Rick's hand and giving it a kiss. "So you know, I think thinking we should go on vacation somewhere. Before my parents get here and drive me crazy."

His expression brightened and he sat up. "Um..I don't really know. Any other places in Europe you wanted to visit? That you're itching to take pictures of?"

"Well, we can't just go anywhere in two and a half days, but we should have some options. We can look into it when we get back to our room if you want. We may need to notify Lumis first, though."

He smirked. "Oh. Big time. Anyway..enough about him. It's still weird going from him being like a best friend to now him wanting to near disown me. Three years is a long time to still be bitchy about it."

He leaned back in his chest and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. "Any other cities you wanna see here in Britain?"

"Canterbury Cathedral, for one thing. Haven't had an English course where you've read the Canterbury Tales yet, I take it? That's where everyone in the story was heading to. It's where the archbishop is. Pretty historic stuff. I'm sure there's other stuff to do there, but I don't know what it is. Yet."
