Back to square one. ((open))

Up until recently maintained as a museum, the childhood home of the Braddock family has been pressed into service as additional housing and classroom space for the Institute. Additionally, the increased demands have led to the main ballroom being converted into a cafeteria for both the Institute and those University students on a meal plan. Student reactions have been mixed, and reports of paranormal activity are as of yet unsubstantiated.

Cal frowned, something else clicking into place. "You can't..." He frowned, thinking about that a moment. Why was it bothering him? It made sense that she could only... "Oh god damn it, that's right, there wouldn't be projectors at the marina," he groaned, burying his face in his hands, elbows on his knees.

He sighed. "So... your whole existence... just here?" That struck him as... well, sad.

"Physically? Yes. Before I grew too much I could live inside a locomotive computer. But I can go wherever I want out there. I've flown with drones and looked out into space." she smiles, a little oblivious to her own melancholy.

"It can be restrictive sometimes." she admits. "Online there is no one like me that I know of or that I can find and out here I'm limited to what I can experience on the grounds."

"Isn't there any way around that? I mean... you just need to be projected, right?"

"There are very few hard-light projectors outside the school. None that are online and accessible at least."

"Fair enough," he conceeded. "But now it does?" he asked, thinking on it. I wonder...

Cal frowned, thinking. Then he started calling up files on the Danger Room. He (naturally) didn't have any monitors, but Ashlie could probably catch what he was doing. "Do they have the Danger Room locked down while it's getting fixed?"

"Which they don't really have any use for now, of course," Cal reasoned, pulling up a few schematics of the projectors. "Since, y'know, it's broken."

"I'm getting at the fact that there's a problem, and the solution should be pretty easy." He waved his hand around the room. "Hell, show me something I have that I use that wasn't broken or spare parts at one point. Me included."

"The projector from that panel was stolen. And one projector would only cover a relatively small area regardless."

"That wall was blasted, are you telling me that no other projectors were damaged? Damn." He thought a moment. "How many projectors do you need to project yourself? Do you have more than one going right now?"

"Seriously? Didn't think they had that kind of range," he muttered. "That would hardly be necessary... hm. I... damn, I need to think about this."

"Well there are 10 projectors total on this floor for redundancy. 6 would be sufficient for basic coverage. The range is about 10 meters unobstructed."

"Still more than enough. Hm. I'll... need to check the market. There's nothing that stops a projector from being self-moving, though, right? Just power constraints to worry bout.?"

"I... guess it would," he said, thinking. His eyes drifted to the power core he was still working on. "It's worth thinking about, at least..."
