"It isn't arrogance if you can back it up." Cain responded, twisting Fitz's arm a bit.

Fitz just smiled knowingly.

After some time, Salome finished feeding. When she was done, she dropped Fitz and she and Cain walked out of the cell without so much as a backward glance.

Fitz sighed once they'd gone, settling back to wait. As long as he was valuable as food, he had time.

Although Fitz wouldn't be aware of it, it was late on the night of the 22nd when the door to Fitz's cell opened again.

Bathsheba stormed across the room and hit Fitz across the face with a teeth-rattling backhand smack.

"Your little friends killed Athalia." Bathsheba replied, backhanding him again.

With an animal growl, Bathsheba ripped open his jumpsuit and sank her teeth into his shoulder.

Fitz hissed in pain once more, pretending to struggle, but in fact putting into action a plan he'd formed should he just be faced with one vampire. Not the wisest plan, but satisfying he thought, as he used the slack in his chain to wrap it around Bathsheba neck and leaned against it, using his formidable weight to tighten it and choke her.

Bathsheba pulled back against the chain and gave Fitz a hard punch to the stomach.

Never punch a fat man in the stomach. Fitz mused internally, staggered by the strength of the blow but not heavily damaged. It'd hurt later, but for now... He aimed a normally crippling kick at Bathsheba's knee, using his own strengh to maintain the choke.

The sound of the struggle brought two more vampires into the room, and they quickly pulled Fitz off of Bathsheba.

"Cull him. Now." she said, glaring at Fitz as she got her breath back.

"I think that is a lovely idea, unfortunately our Sire has other plans for Mr. Simmons." Herodias said, walking into the room.

"You really should watch that temper." Fitz said cheerfully to Bathsheba, ignoring the other vampires in the room.

"Happily." Herodias continued "He'll have to be drained first."

"Better than nothing." Bathsheba said, stepping forward. While the other two vampires held Fitz down, she removed his inhibitor collar, then sank her fangs into his neck.
