I12 - Everybody Was Kung-Fu Fighting

[Kay Haddock]

Kay's in the danger room in the lowest rated combat training program. One wall is lined with all kinds of weapons and there's a row of training dummies. She's currently holding a spear and is whirling around stabbing and smacking one of the dummies.

[Christine Bowen]

"Looking good." Christie said.

[Kay Haddock]

"Gah!" she spins around, leveling the spear at Christie. She obviously hadn't expected someone to walk in on her.

[Christine Bowen]

"Hey, chill out!" Christie said, jumping back "I just came into practice. I can come back later."

[Kay Haddock]

"Sorry!" she says, glancing at the floor, forcing herself to lower the weapon. "I can't help it. It's like instinct to her or something."

[Christine Bowen]

"Oh, ok." Christie said "Like, some kind of instinctual fighting thing?"

[Kay Haddock]

"It's just... reaction stuff, I dunno." she mumbles, mentally kicking herself for almost giving Brigid's power away. "Just not used to it."

[Christine Bowen]

"You seem like you're getting the hang of it." Christie said "Wanna go a couple rounds?"

[Kay Haddock]

"Hmm, yeah sure. Dunno if I'm that great though."

[Christine Bowen]

"That just means you need to practice."

[Kay Haddock]

"I guess... But we'll get changed back next week anyway, right." Right?

[Christine Bowen]

"Yeah, probably." Christie said "But even if you do, learning a little self defense couldn't hurt."

[Kay Haddock]

"Yeah, maybe you're right..."

[Christine Bowen]

"It'll be fun." Christie said "Come on, lets see what you've got."

[Kay Haddock]

"We can't actually hurt each other in here with these weapons, right?"

[Christine Bowen]

"Nope, safeties are on."

[Kay Haddock]

"Then bring it, I guess." she chuckles, brandishing her spear.

[Christine Bowen]

"Ok." Christie said, picking up her own spear.

A really cool fight montage occurred, beyond the ability of anyone to describe. At the end of it, Christie was laying on the ground, a spear at her throat.

[Kay Haddock]

Kay pants, the body used to it but her not having any breathing technique whatsoever didn't help.

"Man, I didn't even know what I was doing half the time there..."

[Christine Bowen]

"Well, try to remember, because you totally kicked ass." Christie said

[Kay Haddock]

"Will do."

[Christine Bowen]

"Wanna go again?"

[Kay Haddock]

"Yeah sure." she says, holding out a hand to help her up.

[Christine Bowen]

Christie reached out and grabbed Kay's hand, inexplicably blushing.

[Kay Haddock]

"You okay?"

[Christine Bowen]

"Yeah, I'm fine." Christie said "Its just a little bit warm. Anyway, um, wanna stick with spears, or do something else?"

[Kay Haddock]

"Well I guess I picked spears so you pick something you're good with now?"

[Christine Bowen]

Christie thought for a moment "How about staffs?"

[Kay Haddock]

"Kinda similar I guess, but if you want."

[Christine Bowen]

"We could do something else, if you'd rather."

[Kay Haddock]

"Sword-fight?"

[Christine Bowen]

"Sure!" Christie said, heading over to the weapons rack.

[Kay Haddock]

"Maybe we should load up a fitting scenario like a castle or pirate ship or something." she says, grabbing a sword from one of the racks.

[Christine Bowen]

Christie considered for a moment "Lets go with a pirate ship. More stuff to jump on and swing off of."

[Kay Haddock]

"Gotcha! Computer, load a pirate ship without people to get in the way!"

And a couple seconds later they found themselves on a slightly swaying ship in the middle of the sea.

[Christine Bowen]

"The DR will never not be awesome." Christie said, picking a sword up off the deck.

[Kay Haddock]

"No kidding." she says and jumps towards Christie with an over-head slash of her sword.

[Christine Bowen]

Christie parried the blow, and then the fight was on! And it was epic! We're talking about serious old school Errol Flynn swashbuckling here!
