Mary Ann dropped to all fours and attempted to buck, trying to throw Kay off of her back.

"Aaaaah!" she lets out as the branch snaps and she goes sailing off of Mary's back. Somehow she manages to make a flip in mid-air and (shakily) land on her feet next to Brigid.

Mary Ann looks at them for a moment and then turns, starting to trundle off into the woods, possibly to find less troublesome prey.

Randomly kicking at the undergrowth Kay makes her way in the rough direction Mary went. She's not exactly good at tracking, but how big can the woods be, right?

Bears don't really hide their trails and Mary Ann was no exception. Having met resistance, Mary Ann seemed to be opting for the path of least resistance now. She avoided thick underbrush, though there were a couple of signs where she'd crashed through some smaller plants. Eventually she just flopped down in a clearing and stared at nothing in particular.

She raised her head and Kay could see that her eyes were conflicted, caught between feral and human. Finally she just flopped her head back down with a whuffing noise.

Mary Ann's breathing changed slightly, then she raised one paw and dragged a claw through the dirt slowly and deliberately. When she was done, it was the word "STUCK" in penmanship equivalent to preschool.
