Issue 12: I Never got the Hang of Thursdays

The site of the recently restored Braddock Lighthouse. Aircraft hangars and other X-Men facilities, including a Cerebra unit and the Danger Room have been constructed around the foundations of the lighthouse.

Shitshitshitshit wait, I'm metal, this is okay, that's... a big guy... okay, let's see if this WORKS! Alex drew himself up on the ball, trying to use its flying momentum to add to his iron punch that he... hoped would connect with Thunderball's jaw. "LOOK OUUUUTTTT!" he shouted as he streaked through the air.

"Alex!" Haley cried out as she saw him get yanked through the air. She ripped herself free of the shrubs, and then punched her way through the maze with her TK in one blast. Looked like people would have a shortcut to the center for a while at least.

She rushed out of the maze and her eyes widened as she saw the grounds turned into a small battlefield.

"Oh shiiiiiiiit...."

Wrecker was smacked, simultaneously, by a horrible tentacle beast and a blasting Ryan, opening himself up for a slash by Kevin.

"You stinkin' pipsqueaks! Gonna pound your brains outta your nose," he said, slinging his crowbar like a missile up towards Ryan, and, in one motion, bending over to pick up Kevin, pulling him in the way of Amanda.

______________

Piledriver found his face pile-drove into the ground by the fantastic Bowen team.

"Don't let up!" Will said, coming in with a sliding kick of his own. "Big ugly can take it. Drop another elbow!"

_____________

The mystic veils washed over Bulldozer, disrupting him and slowing him down, reducing the weight pushing against Sara. He turned his head to look, to see what the heck was going on -- and that's when Melody's bomb exploded, blasting him to the ground, where he tried to stand up again, clearly dazed.

___________

Janice was able to roll out of the way, and the added mass -- and steering! -- of the wrecking ball caught Thunderball off guard.

"Blast!" he said, hitting the ground, letting Alex and the ball continue on it's path towards the lighthouse.

Hearing Will's remark Cecil rushed at Piledriver, again jumping up in the air, but this time to deliver a drop kick to the still knocked down villain.

And that was when Captain Britain took advantage of the fact that she could fly instead of just scrabbling to her feet, and rushed at Thunderball to try to clobber him with the Star Scepter.

"Main Directive, prevent damage to Keystone structure!" Ashlie announces, somewhat to her own surprise, as the hardlight generators come to life again in what is probably their original purpose, projecting a shield in front of the lighthouse. She tries to calculate velocity, vector and rotation of the wrecking ball to make it hit the shield with the side that doesn't have Alex stuck on.

"NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!" Okay... this is bad... problem is this wrecking ball. Soooo... Praying that he could actually do this, Alex started trying to change the ball's shape, aiming to expand it into a wide plate so that maybe, maybe air resistance would slow it down.

Haley saw Alex speeding towards the lighthouse and tried to slow him down with a yank from her TK. She wasn't even sure she could reach that far, but if she could take down buildings, she was going to damn well try.

Poor Piledriver was...well, piledriven, behind the combined forces of Cecil, Will, and the two Bowens. He wasn't getting up any time soon.

___________________

Alex was able to manipuate the surface of the wrecking ball significantly. If he had had some more practice -- or if he just had some more space -- it totally would have "worked", for values of worked meaning awkwardly crashing to the ground. Still, the theory was sound.

ASHLIE's forcefields bounced the ball, with Alex attached to it, around a number of times, helping reduce momentum and prevent, y'know, complete destruction of the lighthouse.

__________________

Captain Britain rushed at Thunderball with her Star Sceptre. He seemed poised to possibly counter it -- but the slight boost Janice got from Vicky was enough to get past that, and he was clobbered upside the head, and staggered, wide open for a followup attack.

________

Poor Bulldozer. No one really deserved that. He'd be singing soprano for a while. Plus, he'd have an AWFUL ringing in his ears. He was out for the count.

________

Ryan was knocked off course by the crowbar, though any actual damage was absorbed nicely by his shield. The crowbar returned to Wrecker's hands, and he used it to continue attempting to fend off Amanda. He thrust it at her, and concentrated, beginning to take possession of the hell-beast.

Ryan skidded to a stop on the ground, and then the cocoon burst open, a dozen feather-like projectiles darting at Wrecker. All right, just like I've been practicing... He lashed out with his wings, entirely composed of energy now, trying to run them through Wrecker before Kevin and Amanda got wrecked.

Cecil looked between the two that were still up. It wasn't that he thought Thunderball was the biggest threat, he still wasn't sure of that, he just wasn't sure what to do against Wrecker without getting in the way of the tentacles, laser swords, and light blasts. So Thunderball it was.

He rushed towards Thunderball getting a little distance off the ground and delivered a kick to his head.

Hey, Haley was getting the hang of this! Pinball Alex slowed towards something resembling a stop.

Haley's accuracy was less than "the hang of this", and Alex bounced off the ground with the wrecking ball on top, but at least that was the LAST bounce.

Janice came from one direction. Cecil from another.

There wasn't much Thunderball could do but be knocked out entirely. Three down.

_______________

Ryan's accuracy was second to...well, second to Bear's, probably, but it was still pretty darn good. The feather-projectiles hit Wrecker in multiple places, dropping his mental assault on Amanda. The tentacles than grabbed and squeezed him tight. He was in trouble.
