Channel Surfing

[Ayami Morita]

Ayami was flipping through channels in the common room.

"Dumb....stupid....seen it....news....reality TV...stupid sports thing..."

[Cecil Langdon]

Cecil walked in the room and glanced at the TV before turning to Ayami. “Nothing on, as usual?”

[Ayami Morita]

"I swear, British TV is the worst."

[Cecil Langdon]

"I'm fairly certain Yank TV is even worse."

[Ayami Morita]

"Never been, so I wouldn't know, but it's probably all doomsday preppers and the like."

[Cecil Langdon]

“At some time or other most of the cable channels became nothing but fake reality TV.”

[Ayami Morita]

"Ugh. It's like a cancer. Or some other kind of disease."

[Cecil Langdon]

“What gets to me is that apparently people actually watch that stuff. There is this one show I saw last time I was there where a bunch actors go around pretending they are illegally distilling alcohol. It is not just a show where the characters are doing it, it is done documentary style even though it is obliviously fake."

[Ayami Morita]

"...no, there couldn't be anything that dumb. You're making it up."

[Cecil Langdon]

"That show is real. Do you really think I could actually come up with something that stupid?"

[Ayami Morita]

"Well, if it does exist, someone had to."

[Cecil Langdon]

"Yes, someone must have. That is actually kind of scary."

[Ayami Morita]

"The world is a terrifying place," Ayami said, deadpan.

[Cecil Langdon]

"Not scary in that way. Its just that I can't imagine what kind of person comes up with shows like that."

[Ayami Morita]

"An American," She said, after some thought.

[Cecil Langdon]

Cecil gives Ayami a strange look before breaking out laughing. "Why did I think of that?"

"See, you just need to hang around bigger brains."
