Communal Kitchen: Cooking for the Masses

[Haley Crusek]

Haley nearly cut herself mid-chop of a piece of celery for the macaroni salad as she looked at Ben, jaw dropped. "Holy shit, Ben...that...I'm sorry," she frowned.

[Kay Haddock]

"What can you do anyway that they're prosecuting your parents for hiding it?"

[Benjamin Brant]

Ben shrugs, looking embarrassed, "It's really not a big deal. They're doing okay. And they're proud to be standing up against something they don't agree with. Plenty of people have it worse than me."

Ben stops slicing strawberries for a moment, "I can control light. Or at least that's what they tell me. Mostly, I can just glow or change the colors of things."

"How about you guys?"

[Kay Haddock]

"Thank god for the MRA, that's some dangerous stuff there." she grumbles. "And, well, I can breathe underwater and stuff. I know, shocker."

[Haley Crusek]

"I showed you at lunch the other day," she said, shoving her hands in her back pockets but letting her TK keep chopping the celery slowly behind her. "Fuck the MRA, man."

[Benjamin Brant]

"Well, I was hoping you'd show me again if I pretended not to know," Ben says cheerfully.

"That is so awesome. I'd love to breathe underwater. It's amazing down there," Ben says, "I read this thing in biology class, that only 5% of the ocean has been explored. 95% of the ocean is stuff no person has ever seen. You'll probably be the first."

[Haley Crusek]

"That would be pretty cool," she admitted, looking at Kay. "Do you know how deep you can go?"

[Kay Haddock]

"Well I've been down almost a mile in the Danger Room. It's pretty to just kinda hang in the darkness and there's just... nothing in any direction."

[Benjamin Brant]

"Cool," Ben says, "...I wonder how deep it is to the bottom."

[Kay Haddock]

"Dunno. Depends on where you are, I think. I've been out in the actual ocean here and it's not really all that deep. It's also all muddy and boring."

[Benjamin Brant]

"Well, it's a big ocean," Ben says, "It can't all be sunken treasure ships and....Atlantises?"

[Kay Haddock]

"Guess not. Still, not exactly Finding Nemo out there."

[Benjamin Brant]

"Well, as long as it isn't Jaws," Ben says.

[Steve Jones]

"Okay, who's granny exploded in here?" Steve commented as he found his way into the kitchen.

[Benjamin Brant]

Ben snorts, laughing in a fairly dorky manner, "Well, my nanna would explode if she saw the mess I was making. Not to mention butchering her fried chicken recipe."

[Steve Jones]

"But seriously... dude, I figured you were just making some snacks, not a feast."

[Benjamin Brant]

"A feast?" Ben says, "..."

Ben looks over the spread, a bit confused.

"...This is just lunch."

[Kay Haddock]

"Hey, if the new guy wants to bribe us with food then don't complain." Kay chuckles.

[Steve Jones]

"Who's complaining?" Steve grinned.

[Benjamin Brant]

Ben looks a bit embarrassed, but happily so, "Well, I just hope everyone enjoys it."

"Smells amazing in here, Ben, so I'm sure everyone will," she smiled.
