Calling the Headmistress

Sam's cellphone rings, along with her office phone and her computer flashing a notification of an incoming connection.

[Samantha McManus]

Settling on the office phone, Ms. McManus picked up.

"...you know, there are easier ways to get my attention."

[ASHLIE]

"I'm sorry. I thought you would prefer the convenience of choosing the means of communication." comes Ashlie's voice from the phone.

[Samantha McManus]

"I'd an inkling it was you, given it all started simultaneously. What can I do for you?"

[ASHLIE]

"We have finished planning the lighthouse repairs and I have prepared a couple cosmetic variations for your approval."

[Samantha McManus]

"Cosmetic variations?" She quirked a brow.

[ASHLIE]

"I assumed you would not want a bleak concrete structure."

[Samantha McManus]

"Well it wasn't exactly a showpiece before, but let's see what you've got."

[ASHLIE]

"It might be a bit quaint, but I think we'll go with this one," she said as she selected one of the examples ASHLIE gave her.

"It's not an eyesore, looks a bit whimsical, and won't have the Maldon council authorities after us."

[ASHLIE]

"Quaint it is. Do I have permission to begin construction?"

[Samantha McManus]

"I'd like both Miss Valentine and Doctor Quinn to monitor while you're at it to watch for irregularities, but aye."

[ASHLIE]

"Of course. With Doctor Quinn's help the basic structure should be completed within a week."
