"My condition is not the priority here."

[Sara Stanton]

"The people out there aren't the only ones who need you..."

[Will Stanton]

"Right now they are," Will said, looking at her.

[Sara Stanton]

"Is this how you're going to handle this then? Everyone else is more important than you or your family?"

[Will Stanton]

"Look in Altamira's room if you want to see what happens when people get soft!" he snapped.

[Sara Stanton]

"She's the bloody Phoenix! Kev said she wanted to stay out there!"

[Will Stanton]

"You don't understand," Will said, beginning to sit up.

[Sara Stanton]

"No, maybe I don't. Maybe I'm a little distracted by the fact that I just pulled you out of dozens of tubes to put you back together and you're clearly not entirely over it yet and I worry I missed something!"

[Will Stanton]

"You can worry later. I'm here; I'm not going anywhere. Well, except to the warroom."

[Sara Stanton]

"The hell you are. We had a deal."

[Will Stanton]

"Yeah, and you promised to help analyze whatever the hell Kraven's done to these people. And yet, here we are."

[Sara Stanton]

"We've analyzed it and I'll go back to helping Doctor Bowen with the cure, but if you're not going to be responsible for your own well-being then I have to."

[Will Stanton]

"I'm responsible for a great number of people's well being. I'll worry about the people in more danger first."

[Sara Stanton]

"You don't even know what's going on or how much danger they're in."

[Will Stanton]

"Because the damn radio keeps shorting out."

[Sara Stanton]

"I'll get you a new one. Is that why you rang?"

[Will Stanton]

"No, I was going to have them double my pain medication."

[Sara Stanton]

"Is it getting worse?" she asks, suddenly more concerned than angry again.

[Will Stanton]

"No, but whatever they gave me wasn't doing a damn thing."

[Sara Stanton]

"You're not exactly an average patient. Maybe I can help them find something that works..."

[Will Stanton]

Will groaned. "Sara..."

[Sara Stanton]

"You're in pain. You put Bear in charge, she knows what she's doing. Let me help you. Please."

[Will Stanton]

"Sara. How can I expect anyone else to follow me when you won't?"

[Sara Stanton]

"I would hope none of the others would let you do this to yourself."

[Will Stanton]

"Do WHAT, Sara?"

[Sara Stanton]

"Play the bloody martyr."

[Will Stanton]

"I'm not a martyr. I'm safe. They're not."

[Sara Stanton]

"You're in a hospital bed."

[Will Stanton]

"Alright, then, I'm getting up," he said, sliding out of bed and drawing himself up.

[Sara Stanton]

"Will, don't be ridiculous."

[Will Stanton]

"Sara, don't be stubborn."

[Sara Stanton]

"We're still not sure what's wrong with you. I'm worried."

[Will Stanton]

"I'm not going anywhere. I'm not suddenly dying, I'm not...mutating into a hellbeast. I'm better off than, like, 90% of the X-teams right now, so I do NOT come first."

[Sara Stanton]

"No but you are recovering from being turned into a mutant hellbeast and god knows what else."

[Will Stanton]

"It's not God that knows what happened to me. Now, if you'll excuse me, Sara, I need to get back to work."

[Sara Stanton]

"Be that way then. I'll go backk to the lab once I've checked on Onyx and Robin." she says as she heads out the door.

[Will Stanton]

"Good show. I'll see you tonight for dinner. At home."


When Sara had gone enough distance away, Will collapsed back onto the bed.
