[Gideon Rede]

"Seems to fit them," Gideon said, "Do they all have their own unique personalities then?"

[Teri Napliotis]

"Nah. They're just ants. They don't really have emotions the way we do."

[Gideon Rede]

"More just common behavioral traits then?" Gideon asked. "Is this how you spend your free time?"

[Teri Napliotis]

"Mostly. Before it gets too cold and they all go to sleep for the winter. Except these now."

[Gideon Rede]

"Must be very quiet during the weekend," GIdeon said, "It's the same here during the holidays. Something is missing when all of the other students go home."

[Teri Napliotis]

"We don't think we'll be going home."

[Gideon Rede]

"You certainly wont be the only one," Gideon said, "You start to find new ways to have fun. The danger room, whatever big city is nearby, or drinking."

[Teri Napliotis]

"All of those sound awful." she laughs. "What's a danger room?"

[Gideon Rede]

"It's a hard-light holographic recreation and training simulator," Gideon said.

[Teri Napliotis]

"Like a holographic gym?"

[Gideon Rede]

"It can be almost anything you can program it to be," Gideon said, "I mostly used it for combat training, running obstacle courses, and that sort of thing."

[Teri Napliotis]

"But it can be anything?"

[Gideon Rede]

"More or less," Gideon said, "The safeties prevent it from becoming anything life threatening."

[Teri Napliotis]

"You'll have to show us some time. Not the combat stuff though."

[Gideon Rede]

"I'm not allowed to use it," Gideon said, "You will unfortunately need to ask somebody else to give you the grand tour."

[Teri Napliotis]

"Oh? Why is that?"

[Gideon Rede]

"Because the headmistress is the only reason I'm not locked in a cell beneath the school," Gideon said, "And because of that they don't particularly trust me."

[Teri Napliotis]

"Are you one of the bad guys?" she asks, eyeing him suspiciously.

[Gideon Rede]

"I was," Gideon said, "Some people probably still think I am."

[Teri Napliotis]

She nods sagely. "A bad guy probably would have just said no."

"What did you do?"

[Gideon Rede]

"I betrayed the X-Men," Gideon said, "I became the anti-thesis of the idea behind the teams and did some terrible things."

[Teri Napliotis]

"And now you are here to do penance."

[Gideon Rede]

"No, I'm here to limit the damage I can do," Gideon said, "Reform through...penance may be side effects of that."

[Teri Napliotis]

"So what do you do for fun? Aside from drinking."

[Gideon Rede]

"Studying," Gideon asked, "I'm still finding ways to fill my new found free time now that I'm not on one of the teams. I spend some of the time tinkering, exercising, and reading.

Drinking is just another way to wile away the time."

[Teri Napliotis]

"Not a very healthy one. Our... grandpa used to drink?" she says, scrunching up her face. "We think... Everything from before is a little blurry sometimes."

[Gideon Rede]

"No, it probably isn't the healthiest thing," Gideon said, "But it helps sometimes. Sorry, I didn't mean to bring up bad memories."

[Teri Napliotis]

"They're not bad. They're barely memories, really."

[Gideon Rede]

"Old memories?" Gideon asked.

[Teri Napliotis]

"From before the song. When we were just a girl."

[Gideon Rede]

"You still are," Gideon said.

[Teri Napliotis]

"Just a girl. Now we're more. But before the song was a lot of discord and it's hard to remember beyond that."

[Gideon Rede]

"You'll find quite a few people have things they either don't want to or can't remember," Gideon said, "Mutants seem to attract discord."

[Teri Napliotis]

"We're not sure we really want to remember it all anyway. This way we can't miss it." she smiles.

[Gideon Rede]

"Being able to forget such things would be valuable to many people here," Gideon said, "Myself included."

[Teri Napliotis]

She seems like she's about to say something, then she blinks and looks up at Gid with her strange eyes for a moment.

Gideon watches the swarm that had briefly moments before been Teri begin to fly away.

"Okay?" Gideon asked sounding mildly confused by what had just happened. "I'm sure we'll talk again sometime soon."
