Victoria Valentine

Name: Victoria Valentine
Age: 20

Power: Dual-consciousness - Telepaths who read Victoria’s mind report detecting her as two people instead of one, though those two people change between nearly identical to identical. She generally does not personally notice this split. It results in her being able to multitask with uncanny efficiency, each half of her consciousness being able to focus on a completely separate task when she wants (or when it is simply necessary by reflex). Communication between the two is instantaneous, and while the two halves of her consciousness are capable of independently thinking in “conversation” with each other in order to more effectively think through a particular problem, it is only possible with direct and conscious effort, and the result is generally just an acceleration of her normal thought process.

Psychic projection – Victoria has a limited form of psychokinesis that allows her to create a facsimile of herself out of psychic energy. This form is guided by one half of her consciousness, unless she makes a conscious effort to meditate and send her entire consciousness into the avatar.
Non-power abilities: Victoria has been trained in the mystic arts, her particular school known as the Winding Way. Her power, true to the nature of the Winding Way, ebbs and flows at various times, making her magical strength fluctuate.

Personality: Victoria can be friendly to her friends, but has a tendency to come off as a bit rough around the edges to those she just meets. She is extremely sarcastic, something which has helped her obtain the same sort of “queen bitch” reputation that her sister used to have. She can be a rather scary person to piss off, but she isn’t necessarily an unpleasant person.

Description: Victoria is slim and lightly built, with a very feminine figure that she plays up with her clothing. In her natural state, she has completely snow-white skin and hair, with green eyes. She tends to wear a lot of black to play up her colorless skin.

Background: Victoria is the sister of Rebecca Valentine, and the only member of the family that Rebecca put any stock in. After Becca was sent to Xavier’s when she was 15, it was decided that as soon as she was old enough, Victoria would be enrolled in boarding schools to try to keep her away from her sister’s influence. This might have worked had it not been for the resources Becca had at her disposal, and in truth the two were never really far out of touch. On Becca’s death, she made sure that Victoria was taken care of like she had in life (whether their parents knew it or not), making her the sole beneficiary of most of what she owned.

Victoria, in the meantime, fell out with her parents a few years into getting sent to boarding school, and was known to be quite a problem child, able to JUST skirt the edges of trouble without actually warranting being sent back to live with her family. She became the poster child for teenage rebellion, taking to clubbing, underage drinking, smoking, and wicca, anything she could think of to piss off her parents more. She never even needed to come out as a mutant to them… that might have been the least of their worries if she had.

When Victoria was 16, she joined what was purported to be a coven of witches her age, which were in fact as new to everything as she was. They did, unfortunately, manage to get their hands on a very legitimate, very dangerous, and very difficult ritual, which they attempted in true teenage form.

No one knows what happened next. One girl was found dead the next day, apparently having been run down in the street on the other side of town from where the girls had been. One girl is presently in a mental institution for her own protection. One simply disappeared. Victoria, who will never say anything else about that night, was the most fortunate of the four, and survived intact long enough to be rescued by an actual sorceress who sensed the ritual. She was able to save Victoria, but found that the girl’s power had been touched by the magic of the ritual, and that she would be both an ideal pupil and dangerous to leave untrained and unsupervised.

On top of her schooling, Victoria spent the next years learning to walk the Winding Way, being tested with varying levels of power, but always generally increasing. Her lessons, while far from over, have still progressed far enough that she can venture away from France to attend college in Essex at Xavier’s.

Reboot notes - Changes:
  • Younger sister to Becca instead of clone/daughter.
  • Mutant powerset changed to compliment observational/magical skillset.
  • Magical source/history altered.
