Chloe was lying on the bed, banged up, bruised and in a lot of pain.

After the first time she dozed off from her medication, Chloe would wake up to find Derek sitting next to the bed, himself bandaged up some and looking tired, but obviously not injured enough to cause any worry. Apparently he'd been trying to read, but had dozed off in the meantime as well, leaning (probably just by flopping over there) with his head on the edge of the bed.

He sat up, leaning on the bed and playing with her hair while he smiled back at her. "Good. I got back and they told me you'd gone to fight the big guy himself. Freaked me right the hell out."

"That was the good part!" Chloe said "I jumped on him, and stuck a claw into his filthy eye. I think I put it out!"

"Pretty and tolerant. You just keep getting better and better," Derek teased. "I didn't know if you'd want to sleep or if you'd be bored or what, so I brought movies. Just, y'know, so you know they're here." Still, he didn't move to get them, just kept carefully smoothing her hair back.

"Hey, if that's what the lady wants, that's what the lady gets," Derek said, reaching under the chair to pull out his backpack. He put the handful of DVDs he'd gotten onto the bed as he started setting up his laptop so they could watch the movies.
