I10 - How can anyone sleep after THAT?

It was dark in the common room because she wanted it that way, light spilling in from the hallway overhead lighting, but all the other lights in the room turned off. Part of her wanted to sleep after the day she'd had today, but anytime she closed her eyes in her room she just saw the school getting attacked again, so out to the common room she came. Haley leaned forward as she sat on the couch, her brow furrowed in concentration as she manipulated a deck of cards that floated in the air in front of her, trying to gracefully spin the deck around, open and close the lid, and slide out cards and let them drop on the table.

Alex really couldn't believe it. he was tired. He was exhausted. And tonight, his brain was working overtime and just wouldn't let him sleep.

Maybe out here will be better... no snoring... He trudged into the common room, lugging a spare fuzzy blanket with him, eyes half closed but sleep refusing to come.

Haley jumped a bit once she realized she wasn't alone anymore, and the pack of cards dropped noisily on the table.

"H...hey," she said, quietly. "Didn't see you there..."

"Just got here," he said, yawning a little. "You didn't miss much. Can't sleep?" he asked as he sank down onto the couch.

"Not at all," she sighed, leaning back into the couch. "Maybe I need to try and sleep with you again," she smirked weakly, before she realized what she'd just said and blushed. Thankfully it was pretty dark in the room.

Alex chuckled tiredly, giving her shoulder a little squeeze as he settled back. "Freaked out about all that mess today?" he guessed. Not that it was a hard guess.

"Yeah, that... wasn't our most brilliant move," Alex admitted. "I think if we hadn't had these... big statue things attack us we probably would've backed out of there, because the stuff they were fighting was... yeah. Way out of our league."

"You're a sweetheart. Thank you," she sighed, tugging the blanket free from Alex and spreading it over both of them.

Alex, exhausted as he was, shifted under the blanket, getting the both of them more comfortable as the movie started up. "What can I say, I'm a sucker for cute girls giving me sad eyes," he teased.

"I'll just file that away for later use," she smiled wearily, snuggling up with him...and wanting nothing more than to just kiss Alex. A feeling that she wasn't even intentionally sharing with him for once, but he'd probably feel just the same anyway.

Haley's heart pounded and the flock of butterflies in her stomach continued their flight as she returned the kiss eagerly, pressing her small frame tightly against Alex. She didn't have a single care in the world at the moment, and she loved it.

Alex was just completely gone. He'd been close the other night, after all the jerking-around he'd been getting from the girls. Now... he just felt the stress of the day melting away as they kissed, squeezed together on the couch.

Haley couldn't stop. She'd wanted this to happen for so long and now it finally had, and she was practically delirious. Making out was way more fun when you actually liked the person you were doing it with.

By the time they finally did stop, the movie was practically over, and Haley just smiled happily at Alex.

Haley had done a remarkable job of tuning everything out while they'd been kissing, but once they were done...suddenly hearing his uncertainty hit her pretty hard. It took a lot of effort to not let on that she'd sensed anything, and smiled happily, trying to cling to how it had felt.

"we should do that more often," she smiled bashfully, resting her head on his chest, clinging to him tightly.

Ugh, that doesn't matter, it's still...

He abruptly put a clamp on all of the conflicting thoughts in a sudden defiant surge of "screw that noise," slipping his arm more tightly around her. "I think I'd like that," he said, sighing as they got more comfortable.

What the hell are you doing!?
