"Well... everything that just happened?"

[Zeryn]

"Do you want nothing to do with him?"

[Brigid Plunder]

"I'm... not sure what I want. I'm still pretty mad."

[Zeryn]

"And why are you angry?"

[Brigid Plunder]

"Because it just... it felt like I couldn't get him to be straight with me about things."

[Zeryn]

"You wouldn't be upset about that if you did not want this matter worked out with him, would you?"

[Brigid Plunder]

"I guess I just... don't want him to be weird around me."

[Zeryn]

"So you do want this worked out, then. If he wants it worked out as well, then it will be. If not... well, then you cannot say you did not try. And that is all that you can do."

[Brigid Plunder]

"Yeah... I guess you're right."

"I hope... I hope he's not telling everyone I'm crazy or anything."

[Zeryn]

Zeryn shrugged. "If he does, hit him again," he suggested.

[Brigid Plunder]

"...we did go over the bit where I don't want him to think I'm some sort of savage freak, right?"

[Zeryn]

"It has been my experience that if a man spreads unkind words about a woman, getting some sort of physical retaliation is generally considered deserved. But if you don't wish to, don't, of course."

[Brigid Plunder]

"I'm trying to leave that behind..."

[Zeryn]

Zeryn cocked an eyebrow. "Oh? What do you mean?"

[Brigid Plunder]

"Why do you think I even have this problem?"

[Zeryn]

"Because you can outperform your prospective mate or mates at a level which they have trouble adjusting to?"

[Brigid Plunder]

"Yeah, and where do you think I get that?"

[Zeryn]

"I have no idea. It's quite often a trait that has some family bearing, although it cannot be discounted that it is owing to your gifts that brought you to this school."

He thought about that for a minute. "Is that in Africa? I still haven't been to Africa."

[Brigid Plunder]

"Antarctica. It's a valley ringed by volcanoes, that has frigging dinosaurs."

[Zeryn]

"Ahhhh, all right. I haven't been there, either. Although I have been to Japan, you would not believe the things that you can find in the ocean around there."

[Brigid Plunder]

"Yeah. I've just... I've done this before. My dad is frigging Ka-Zar, and you have no idea how embarrassing that is."

[Zeryn]

"Why? Is he here now?"

[Brigid Plunder]

"No, he just wonders why I'm not more like him and my brother."

[Zeryn]

"Let him wonder. My father thinks that I should be serving in the Imperial army, working to expand our territory and increase our house's standing with the royal court. I give him about as much mind on the matter as you apparently give yours."
