I8DT: Under The Sea!

Postby Nina Madaraki » Mon Dec 19, 2011 12:20 am

Off the coast of London, Zeryn and Nina were having a date.

Nina drifted in the underwater currents, looking happy. In a couple of days, her internship would start. She was nervous but ignoring it in favor of enjoying her date.

Zeryn drifted along lazily next to her. "It isn't easy to remain so close to shore without the surfacers noticing us, but we have measures in place that keep these places hidden. It took some doing, since SHIELD raised quite a fuss, from my understanding, about us using guard sharks to scare people away."

I don't see why. If people just respected your sovereignty there wouldn't be an issue.

Nina smiles, Besides, those sharks are such sweethearts.

"Precisely! But they started up with nonsense like 'having to tell people this is our sovereign land before defending it'. Ah, there we are... focus your eyes and you'll see through the illusion." As they swam farther from the shore, Nina would begin to see that the ocean floor wasn't really flat that there was a trench forming that went deeper before them.

Zeryn led her through the illusion, which seemed to be a mixture of well-placed plants and artificially stirred water currents, and led her down into the trench.

The trench seemed to be a sort of garden, with brightly colored sea plants and anemones arranged rather artfully in the descent. "Some of the finest horticulturalists in the Northern Currents maintain these gardens. This one sees less use, but is still well kept." As they swam, little luminous fish seemed go congregate over them, so that wherever they went, it was well-lit.

"Most are cross-breeds which were rather difficult for us to produce. After King Namor's stay on the surface, he had our scientists cross surface flowers with aquatic breeds to produce... well, these," he said, swimming lower with her.

Nina reaches out to touch one of the plants.

They're amazing.

Thank you for bringing me here.

"Only natural that you know what your kin beneath the waves can do. I'm glad that you like it." As they wandered through the garden, with floating clusters of aquatic flowers forming a canopy over them here and there, the currents seemed to flow around Nina, like a constant, subconscious caress.

So, is this a private garden?

Nina smiles at Zeryn, plucking a flower from the ground and putting it in her hair.

"I've good authority that we're the only ones who know of it who are in the area at the present," Zeryn told her, brushing her hair back so that the flower was displayed more prominently.

Good.

Nina gives Zeryn a quick peck on the cheek.

Why was it made? Besides for seducing innocent young mermaids?

Well, I suppose our own private undersea garden isn't the worst thing in the world.

"Indeed! I suppose we could lay claim to the seas around Britain, and have our claim uncontested. But ruling an unpopulated stretch of ocean would be rather dull, would it not?" He smiled, drifting closer. "They probably would not like it if a symphony of whales were brought in to perform, either. Keeping the peace with the surface is a bore sometimes."

It sounds like the people on the surface just don't appreciate the finer things in life.

Zeryn laughed. "Not a prince yet," he mused. "But to answer your question... down here." He indicated a few tunnels descending into the sea floor, barely visible amongst the flowers, obviously intentionally (and artfully) hidden so that there wasn't the look of gaping holes in the park.

"Excellent. In that case... " With that, Zeryn rolled a stone door that was settled against the entrance of the cave closed, shutting out all of the light filtering down from the surface.

Immediately, the cave lit up, the phosphorescent algae and plants that were arranged becoming visible and glowing in the now pitch-black cave. The cave seemed to have been painted with algae, some parts of it abstract arrangements, others obviously intricately arranged into murals of Atlantean life and what were presumably old heroes of the culture. From the look of them, they liked to celebrate great feats of strength, as well as the, er, finer things in life, without any sense of shame whatsoever.

Zeryn's arm curled around her waist, keeping her there against him. "I'm glad that you like it as much as I expected," he told her, the currents making them drift along as she looked at the painted cave, the phosphorescent glow bathing their bodies in irridescent colors. "I'll admit... I wanted to show you something truly special before you leave to study from the warrior caste. I'll miss you while you're away, my lady."

He leaned down and brushed his lips along the top of her head. Which was all he could really reach, given that she was sort of tiny next to him. "But nevertheless, I'm proud of this path you've chosen. In case that makes any difference to you."

Zeryn closed his eyes for a moment, the slow exhalation of showing that yes, he did quite enjoy that. And then, cupping his arm under her bottom, he lifted her up along him so that he could kiss her properly, the currents swirling sensually around them.

"Truly," Zeryn told her between kisses, "The loveliest, most enthralling woman I've met in many, many years." The currents seemed to serve to keep them in place, so that they wouldn't risk falling against the walls as Zeryn began to show his appreciation for said loveliness.

Quite a while later, the two of them were floating in the middle of the cave together, the currents cushioning them quite comfortably as the afterglow faded.
