Morgan 'Psyche' Evans

Postby Morgan Evans » Sun Apr 05, 2009 9:44 pm

Name: Morgan 'Psyche' Evans.

Age: 18

Power:

The Good, the Bad and the Trippy:

Morgan is able to project into the minds of other people (including large groups) hallucinary images similar to those one experiences when on an acid trip. They are vividly coloured, fantasies or nightmares drawn from the recipients on head and although Morgan can project currently only within line of sight, there is potential in the power for expansion.

The nature of the power being as empowering or heightening as drugs means that Morgan's presence/gift can be equally as addictive. Morgan's power is not limited only to these images, morgan is also able to read minds, mind speak and with Connor there is no distance limit. (Though the two are never at excessively large distances from each other so the extremes are yet to be tested.) This would be due in majority to the extreme shared nature of their upbringing and the emotional ties/reliance with/on him.

Out of Time, out of Mind:

Morgan can place people in a dream-like trance state, wherein all outside influences are shut off from her subject (they are physically numbed, can't hear, taste or see anything that is occuring in reality) and they become trapped within their own subjective space. Here their imaginary experience takes full control, building a scenario through emotions and the memories attached to them, the emotions being chosen by Morgan.
During this period, to the subject it may feel like time has slowed incredibly (thanks to them experiencing R.E.M whilst technically awake). What to someone unnaffected may feel like a second could be up to ten minutes to the subject. As this use of her power is still new to her, Morgan experiences light-headedness and headaches when using it, partially as a result of her mind processing vision at both the rapid pace of the subject and her own.

Example Here

Personality: Reluctant to Trust, Morgan speaks but prefers to do so through Connor as Morgan is loathe to draw attention, prefers solitude to partying, is loyal, steadfast, sweet, introverted. Has a potential capacity for violence but supresses that nature.

Physical: Androgynous, Slender and waif like, haunted expression in blue eyes, platinum blonde hair cut excessively short, medium height (5'6)

Background:

As an orphan growing up in multiple foster homes around London Morgan was always considered intelligent and was subsequently educated but never able to find placement due to having strange ways. Taken advantage of in situations where Morgan should have been safe Morgan found her power manifesting when very young. The nature of this power made Morgan's presence addictive to those that were subject to it, as a protection device Morgan used it in defense, and the abuse continued until Connor stepped in.

After a few run in's between Connor and the Authorities x-corps stepped in and removed the pair, the two completed their high school education and have been placed at XU to continue to explore their potential.

Daughter of Stephen and Meg Evans, (mother was able to accelerate the growth of plants and father was a hydro-phobe. He could repel water) Stephen was in an Orphanage until he went to college where he met Meg Kelley.

Is the addiction potential only psychological, or is there some physical component to the possible addiction?

Also, I'd appreciate it if you could elaborate on the "read minds" bit. Is Morgan a full on telepath or is it more surface thoughts and the like?

Surface thoughts and mind speak. Morgan is able to construct a shield so that the conciousness is inaccessible by full telepaths.

Possessed of properties similiar to a psychedelic drug.

The wide variety of psychedelic drugs and their varying effects give large scope to the future potential of Morgan's abilities. Most often these effects vary with exposure and 'type'; in this case it would be Morgan channelling specific types of 'energy' in order to create a response similiar to a type of drug, though on a much more base and unaware level. Morgan has a point in mind and goes for it, the mechanics aren't studied (yet).

Due to the nature of the beast Morgan's power is a psychological addiction that will fade away if they are not hit again within the next 24 hours.

The brain initially craves more after exposure but this will fade away without futher effect (beyond cravings) so long as they don't encounter it again. If exposed for a long period (over 30 mins) to the 'ability' they will be subject to a 'detox' period matching in time too the period of exposure. Used previously as a fight and flight response, it is untested over a prolonged period of exposure by subject.

And this is where tabs comes back to bite me in the ass.

Sorry, I moved this topic into the student directory before it had the needed approvals because I was looking at it and moving a different app into student directory and somehow got them mixed up and....yeah.

Anyway, you answered my questions well and I'm glad that it's not extremely easy for people to get addicted to Morgan's abilities, which would be a concern. So....

How large of a group can Morgan affect (a small bar? A classroom? A building? A concert hall?), and does the number of targets limit the maximum intensity of the power? i.e. does the power need to be spread more thinly with a larger group?

Currently yes, groups maxxing out at ten for maximum intensity, anymore and the effect minimises. Its also physically draining though stamina would increase with time and training.
