Fight #10: Meg v. Thal

Postby Narrator » Thu Jan 06, 2011 8:15 pm

Was Meg even fighting a person? Seven feet tall with hair growing out of nearly everywhere, it was really hard to tell...

Meg looked up at him, honestly impressed by the stature. Half-smiling, she flexed her fingers easily. "Let's tango, Bigfoot."

"Rearerrrrr," the...thing said, balling it's arms into fists, and slowly approaching Meg.

Surprisingly, she stood her ground, though she did take a loose fighting stance. She gave no indication of her electrical powers. That left with more options for response since her powers were not apparent at first glance.

All she had to do was survive her opponent's opening attack, whatever it was.

Thal gave a quick feint with one hand, and then with the other meaty hand, reached for Meg's throat!

Meg stepped back from the first attempt but quickly realized her vulnerability.

Oddly enough, the smile didn't fade as the other hand grasped for her throat. She grabbed his wrist just before his large hand could close. Less than a heartbeat later, she activated her Taser Touch, pumping the giant full of electricity. Given his size, she gave him a bit more than she would have someone smaller. Her eyes glowed blue as she activated her powers.

The giant shouted in pain, but slowly was brining his other hand towards her as well, and his superior strength was breaking free from her grasp...

Time for Plan B, Meg thought as she realized he was far more resilient than she had thought. Opening one hand, she summoned a crackling ball of lightning, the size of a basketball. Then, with no warning except for a grunt of effort, she shoved it...directly into his face.

The guy screamed, and briefly let go of Meg to cover his own face...but after a moment, he stood up straight, and STILL he came...

The break was all Meg needed. She rose into the air once he had released her, bringing herself quickly out of his immediate reach. That wouldn't last long, and she knew it. The time for subtle offense was over. And, she had been aching to try a rather interesting variation on her powers.

She reached out with her senses, finding the various electrical lines in the room. It had more than enough capacity for her needs. She just had to hope it was enough. As she stretched one hand up toward the ceiling, all the lights in the room blew at once, plunging it into temporary darkness. That lasted a very short time as electricity arced from the lights into her outstretched hand. She grinned as her eyes blazed bluish-white.

The room was suddenly awash in light as released a huge bolt of lightning right into her opponent's head. With her normal blast enhanced by the extra power, the bolt was blindingly bright, especially in the darkness of the room.

Thal cried out in pain, and dropped to both knees, howling, as the voltage coursed through his body.

...but...he was.....slowly....very slowly....getting back to his feet?!

"Oh give me a fucking break already!" Okay, he's tough, strong, but he's not invulnerable since he's capable of being hurt. Juggernaut he's not, but he's making a damned good show of it.

She went from hovering to flying, hoping that a moving target might not be as easy for him to hit. But she had to come up with something better, because if thousand of volts of electricity weren't going lay him out directly, her bag of tricks was going to be emptied damnably quick.

The behemoth lurched forward...

...in the direction OPPOSITE of where Meg had gone. He lashed out with wild haymakers.

The darkness was both her shield and her curse. His wild, random swinging meant that so long as she remained out of reach and out of sight, he was going to likely do more damage to the walls than to her. However, once she started firing, she'd be lighting up the room again, giving him light enough, even briefly, to find her.

Given his strength and tenacity, the question was how to take him down without giving her position away completely? Of course, the darkness did her no favors as well. She wasn't completely blind, since if she focused she could sense where he was through the electrical impulses of his body; even then, it was just enough to know where he was, not what he was doing beyond the grunts he gave while trying to find her. Otherwise, she was just a blind as he was.

So, the idea was to keep him confused about her exact location.

With that, she 'felt' out the electrical pathways in the area. But this time, instead of channeling the power through her, she drew the power out through the various access points. Surges jumped from outlets and light sockets, pummeling her target from various directions staggered moments apart. Most were merely annoying, though some packed a wallop. The room was lit in a strobe effect, and Meg kept moving, adding her own bolts often at the same time, from various heights.

And...slowly but surely, Thal staggered...and starggerd.. and fell. First to his knees, and then flat on the ground.

She sent a few more bolts into him, not willing to accept that he was completely unconscious finally. But when he failed to stir, she landed, rocking on her feet a bit from the effort of taking him down. Then, in what seemed a gratuitous display of power, she absorbed electricity from the various point she had just used to assault him. In truth, though, she had nearly drained herself putting him down. Her eyes glowed, arcs of electricity jumping between them, as she 'topped off', and her body now illuminated the dark room.

Meg looked at the fallen form. As she passed it to leave the area, she gave a smile of triumph. That covered her discreet attempt to make sure he was still breathing.
