Sept 18 - A Sombre Saturday Morning

[Talia Fawnsworth]

"I hope so. Part of me would like to have another crack at those bastards, but I don't think I would fare any better the second time. I'll leave the rescue to the professionals."

[Mercy Wilkins]

Mercy smiles at Ryan. "I hope so. Thanks for cheering me up."

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan shrugged. "It's not much, I know... but it's what we can hold onto right now."

[Mercy Wilkins]

"You're probably an old hand at this. You seem really put together, I'm impressed."

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan smiled a little, then shrugged. "I've been around," he said. "Things turn out in the end. We just have to make sure they turn out how we want them to."

[Mercy Wilkins]

"Tell me about a situation that worked out well."

[Byrna Cooper]

Bear strode into the quad, a serious look on her face. Very un-Bearlike.

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan shrugged, leaning back against a tree. "Take your pick. I went to Xavier's in New York, we saw crisis every third week. Hell, one time some schmuck decided it'd be a great idea to activate a few Sentinels and send them our way. Salem's full of mutants these days so it was... well, looking pretty bad. But we had a few people on hand, we got them herded up, and we smashed them up good somewhere between town and the school where there wasn't much in the way of buildings to get damaged. Someone was reeeally embarassed when it made the news that we took them out and that no one got hurt." He frowned slightly. "Unfortunately, I never got ot learn who that person was, but oh well. Someone knows and made sure they caught the apropriate amount of shit for it."

Ryan noticed Bear approaching and, for once, the customary hug-greeting was given to Bear instead of by Bear. "Hey, no long face," he said. "This is all going to be okay."

[Mercy Wilkins]

Mercy's eyes go wide, "Wow, you fought Sentinels and won? That's amazing."

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan shrugged. "There were only three of them. And we had a couple heavy-hitters on hand. And I fucking hate Sentinels."

[Mercy Wilkins]

"That's still pretty amazing." Mercy smiles.

[Alex Campion]

Ryan speaks and the girls swoon... makes as little sense now as ever.

...it's gotta be the wings...

[Talia Fawnsworth]

"Excuse me for a moment, I should be back momentarily."

Bear strode into the quad, a serious look on her face. Very un-Bearlike.

Talia makes her way over to Bear, a tentative smile on her face, "Pardon me, miss?"

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan smiled back. "Thanks. We do try, after all."

[Mercy Wilkins]

Mercy stands up and extends her wings. "I think I'm going to go for a flight. That always helps me feel better."

[Ryan Gabriel]

"You prefer flying alone?" Ryan asked, not making any move to take off yet.

[Mercy Wilkins]

"I don't often get company, so I like it when I can get it." Mercy grins, and leaps up, boosting the jump with her wings, and after a couple of more powerful flaps to gain altitude she's soaring more gracefully, motioning for Ryan to follow.

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan spread his wings, taking a flap to lift him from the ground, then making a shallow swoop as he gained altitude. His flight style seemed to consist of quite a bit of gliding, using his wing angles and updrafts as much as he could.

[Alex Campion]

Alex watched the two fly away.

"I so need to work on a flight form."

[Mercy Wilkins]

Mercy climbs higher, into the sky over the Quad.
