April 11th: Shave and a haircut

[Gideon Rede]

Gideon exited the barber shop having gotten his first real haircut in quite a while. Combat with long hair was something he'd been lecture on a few times by various instructors, and now had seemed like a good as time as any.

Gideon walked down the street, and rather strongly contemplating putting his hood up with the number of looks he was getting.

[Lora Zalesky]

In contrast with all of the stupid little flatscans giving him looks, one girl rushed up to him and ran a hand through his hair.

"Made it as soon as I could. Nice hairstyle, they did a good job!," she said enthusiastically, kissing him lightly (hey, they are in public).

[Gideon Rede]

Gideon took Lora's hand.

"Can't have zombies grabbing my hair, eh?" Gideon asked with a smile, "Did they? The stylist's hand kept shaking as she cut my hair. Must've thought I was going to bite her or something."

[Lora Zalesky]

She laughed a bit, looking back up at his hair. "Well, I have never seen it this short, so I guess I do not have much to go by. But I think you could make a mohawk look good."

[Gideon Rede]

"It hasn't been this short since before I was the institute," Gideon said, "Back before my skin changed colors."

[Lora Zalesky]

"It is hard to imagine you looking all peach-colored. I will take charcoal any day."

[Gideon Rede]

Gideon grinned.

"I'll have to show you a picture sometime," Gideon said, "It was a few months before I looked like this, and the black veins as I changed were a bit creepy looking."

"I heard our time travelers made it back."

[Lora Zalesky]

"So did I! It is great, no? I heard that some of them are a bit worse for wear, but that everyone who went to the future made it back."

[Gideon Rede]

"Yeah, sometimes the best scenario happens," Gideon said, "There are some horror stories going around already though."

[Lora Zalesky]

"Oh? I did not hear any more specifics..."

[Gideon Rede]

"Just rumors, new fears coming to the forefront of being pushed into gas chambers," Gideon said, "The psychic landscape of the campus feels...tainted."

[Lora Zalesky]

She understood exactly what he was getting at, of course.

"Well, maybe now they'll start to agree with us," she mused.

[Gideon Rede]

"For some reason I doubt it," Gideon said.

[Lora Zalesky]

She sighed. "You are probably right. I guess when the hammer falls and and everyone is scrambling for shelter, we can say 'I told you so.' That is not much consolation, though. How far into the future did they go, do you know?"

[Gideon Rede]

"18 or 20 years is what I heard," Gideon said, "Apparently long enough for all the sacrifices we made to endear ourselves to 'em to not mean shit."

Gideon sighed.

"Talking about this makes me need a drink."

[Lora Zalesky]

"That sounds good to me. I could go for some vodka.

"Trying to do good things for the humans is pretty much pointless."

[Gideon Rede]

"Vodka is sounding pretty good right now," Gideon said walking with Lora to find a bar, "The other side would say they let us build a university here, and public opinion is swinging our way."

"All a bunch of bullshit if you ask me. Mutants should be lauded for pulling humanity's collective asses out of the fire on so many occasions."

[Lora Zalesky]

"Hey, you know that I agree with you. We only saved whole universe about two months ago..."

[Gideon Rede]

"I'm sure somebody will say it's only because mutants are around that the universe was in peril," Gideon said, "Because we all know nothing bad ever happened before mutants appeared."

[Lora Zalesky]

"You are probably right. So, where did you have mind for drinks, hm?"

[Gideon Rede]

"There's a nice bar up the street from here," Gideon said, "I'm starting to feel like freaking out some flat scans."

[Lora Zalesky]

"A couple of degenerates like us in such a nice part of town. Whatever will they do?"

[Gideon Rede]

"Depends," Gideon said, "How much of a degenerate do you want to be?"

[Lora Zalesky]

"возлюбленный, I want to be the downfall of civilization as we know it," she said, grinning devilishly.

[Gideon Rede]

"Я тебя люблю," Gideon smiled. "Lets just make sure we don't end up in prison."

[Lora Zalesky]

"Right back at you." Still smiling, she kissed him on the cheek. "But yes, that kind of stuff is for after college."

[Gideon Rede]

"After college, eh?" Gideon asked with a smile.

[Lora Zalesky]

"It is not easy to earn a degree when you are wanted," she whispered, grinning.

[Gideon Rede]

"Maybe through correspondence courses," Gideon replied, "I'm sure they have programs set up for super villains."

[Lora Zalesky]

"If not, maybe I could establish one! I will credit you with it somewhere along the way, of course."

[Gideon Rede]

"I do accept many forms of payment," Gideon smirked.

[Lora Zalesky]

"You could always be one of the professors, if you could stand another eight or nine years of college."

[Gideon Rede]

"I'm probably the last mutant you want teaching," Gideon said, "And after the hell our teachers were put through I've probably earned students from hell."

[Lora Zalesky]

"You could at least be the power instructor for the telepaths. Unless you think karma would deal you the worst of those as well," she added, smirking.

[Gideon Rede]

"I think karma would have a field day," Gideon smirked. "You thinking about becoming a teacher?"

[Lora Zalesky]

"Hell no!" She laughed. "Even if I were to start this university, I would just make myself the shadowy headmaster that no one under me would want to have to report to."

[Gideon Rede]

"So just like Lumis then, eh?" Gideon asked with a slight smile, "I think I'll stick to professional tights wearing. Much safer than running or teaching at one of these schools."

[Lora Zalesky]

"He is an inspiration to us all. But yes, you are probably right. A school would just bring me a lot of trouble."

[Gideon Rede]

"You going to stay with the Accolytes one we're done with school?" Gideon asked.
