Daniel nodded, impressed, and almost held out his hand to Stan, but hesitated for a moment.

Stan hesitated.

"I'm trusting you to do the right thing now, Daniel. It's going to be a big rush, and with your fire aura on top of it.. It wouldn't take much for you to damage the hideout, or draw the attention of the patrols."

[Daniel Uriel]

THis did make Daniel give Stan a patronizing look. "You realize I could've done that by now anyway, right?"

[Stan Bowen]

"It's a new powerset.. One I had trouble adjusting to when it developed for me. I just want you to be ready for it, and know I am trusting you with keeping it under control," he said, evenly and calmly.

"It's not me questioning your motives."

[Daniel Uriel]

"That part I'm used to," Daniel said, more seriously now, finally extending his hand.

[Stan Bowen]

Stan gave a final nod, grasping Daniel's hand.

[Daniel Uriel]

A wave of heat passed over Stan's body, and any sense of his power Stan had would momentarily be cut off. This passed within a couple seconds, though.

Daniel stepped back, blinking his eyes, trying to take in the new sensations. He had the common sense to step away from anything flammable before triggering the new power.

For a moment, Daniel's body seemed to transform into pure flame, almost blinding to behold, but with his features still delicately formed by the shape of the flame. He changed back just as quickly, looking a little taken back, glancing around to see if anything around him had been scorched or singed. Not seeing anything, he picked up his feet to see that yes, the floor directly beneath his feet had been scorched. "Huh. Is it always an all-or-nothing deal? Nothing in between?" he asked, scuffing the floor with his foot to see if he could wipe off the black footprints.

"It's possible, but takes one hell of a lot of strain to separate individual body parts- It's biologically fixed towards being on, or being off."

Stan flicked his fingers, sending a spark zipping to a potted bonsai plant, turning it to steel.

"It's a little bit easier to separate out the matter shifting part, though."

[Daniel Uriel]

Daniel frowned, considering that. "Might be best to stay away from that part. If I even have it. Physical stuff is... weird with my power." Then, hovering a few inches off the ground first, he shifted back into his flame form, wincing as he did. "It... feels strange. Like the... wound's burning out of me. Slowly," he said, his voice containing a hissing quality in this form, as if it being made by something that was just trying to approximate human speech.

[Stan Bowen]

"Give it a few minutes, Daniel. Get used to your ionic form- you will heal up just fine."

[Daniel Uriel]

"I... honestly doubt... this is ionic," Daniel said. "Any energy component... becomes heat... under my power," he answered. His answers didnt' seem to be labored, but rather like someone who just needed to take additional breaths normally between words.

[Taliesin]

Taliesin looked on, seemingly unimpressed.

"Daniel. Riiight."

Well, he had gotten him to remember, at least.

[Stan Bowen]

"Interesting.."

Stan poked around the boxes, looking for a pen and paper.

"So, you just don't add a flame effect to whatever power you copy?"

[Taliesin]

All of a sudden, Taliesin was holding pen and paper, and handed them to Stan.

[Daniel Uriel]

"You can consider it more... of a translation than a copy. The... effects can vary so that... it looks like a simple addition. I... have never produced any other form... of energy before. Not electricity... not darkforce, not force unless... telekinesis is involved."

"This is... interesting," Daniel said, looking around. "Along with my energy... reading ability, I can... see the energy fields more... clearly in this form. Even... the chemical bonds in solid objects... if I look the right way. I... don't think using the transfiguring aspect... of your powers would be a good idea... without a safe test subject and a... very secure location." Whatever was causing the halts, Daniel seemed to at least be managing to string more words together at once in this form.

[Stan Bowen]

Stan nodded, grateful for the supplies Will provided.

"Take it easy.. just let the information come to you, Daniel. We can fully explore this once we get back home."

[Daniel Uriel]

"I am. Each new power is like a... new part of my body being unlocked. Some... are best locked again. I don't... always have the luxury of waiting and... seeing what happense. I've learned... that lesson the hard way." With a sudden implosion of energy, Daniel was in his human form again, and dropped back to the floor, a bit breathless.

[Stan Bowen]

Stan immediately went to check on the bullet wound, his first concern.

[Daniel Uriel]

The wound was not, of course, fully healed, though it did show signs of increased regeneration. For one thing, the scorching Daniel'd done to cauterize it was not in evidence, though it wasn't bleeding, either.

[Stan Bowen]

"It's looking better already."

Stan smiled, digging out a fresh bandage, and wrapped it in place.

[Daniel Uriel]

"Good. I'd better give it some more time before I fire up like that again. Kind of... disorienting to keep changing like that," he said, holding his arm out gratefully as Stan wrapped it.

[Stan Bowen]

"It'll take a little while to get used to it. Eventually, you will know what feelings and lurches to anticipate, and you won't even notice the shift."

Stan finished treating the wound, stepping back and taking a seat.

"How do you feel? I mean, besides the bullet hole?"

[Daniel Uriel]

Daniel stopped to consider this. "Sober," he said, a little surprised. "Pretty good... no aches right now except my shoulder, not feeling tired anymore. Hangover's gone."

[Stan Bowen]

"Burned it out, hmm?"

Stan smiled at the old man joke.

[Daniel Uriel]

"Feels like," Daniel said. "Rather not try and see what happens if I use it while I'm dead drunk, of course. Still... not bad."

[Stan Bowen]

"Good, good.."

Stan was writing down his observations and discussion, as he often did.

"Keep at it, shifting regularly. Both to get used to it, and to keep your healing at a uniform rate. I don't know what the immediate future holds, but we should all be at full strength."

[Melody Martens]

Stephanie watched the whole display with some curiosity, but remained a quiet observer in the corner of the room.

Melody walked into the room--though perhaps "staggered," would be a better way of describing it, looking pale, but decidedly better than right when she'd left the room. She leaned wearily against the frame of the door, unsure of what had been going on.

"Hello, Melody. Feeling any better?" Stan asked, turning her way.

[Melody Martens]

Melody nodded weakly.

"Never. Drinking. Again," she proclaimed quietly.

[Stan Bowen]

Stan nodded, tossing her some aspirin and a bottle of water.

"Try these. Hopefully some things still function familiarly in the future."

[Daniel Uriel]

"Hey," Daniel said, smiling a little sheepishly. "Looking less green, that's always an improvement." He glanced at Stephanie. "You guys have anything resembling coffee?"

[Felana]

"Yeah, we've got coffee. It's not good, but we have some."

Stephanie moved like she was about to go make some, before turning back to Daniel. "By not good, I mean 'you can degrease an engine with this shit' or 'strong enough to make your chest hairier than me'

[Daniel Uriel]

Daniel smirked. "Well hell, ask her what she wants you to do, I got a power-cheat for my hangover, she's the one who looks like she can't stand up straight," he said, indicating Melody.

[Melody Martens]

Melody popped two pills and drank some water.

"Thanks, Dr. Bowen," she said quietly before looking to Daniel, then back to Steph.

"If you make some, I'll drink it, but I don't particularly *need* coffee...water's fine."

[Daniel Uriel]

Daniel held up his hands in acquiescence. "Just trying to help."

[Stan Bowen]

Stan set about cleaning up the room a little, putting things back where he found them.

"You helped more than you know already, drinking buddy...The hangover's no fun, but I'm glad I have a friend here now."
