Re: An Unassuming House

Skeiron didn't even seem to notice Rick yet, behind some of the others. He just shook his head and looked at the staff Will held. "Yeah, that used to belong to a Professor Weaver, back when there was still a university." Anyone close enough would notice that his breath smelled distinctly like alcohol.

Will handed it back to Robin. "This used to belong to one of my professors."

"Right, your old shapeshifting teacher." she says with a please-don't-tell-me-that-story-again tone.

Taking it back from Will she takes a careful look at it and pushes the button that extends the staff. Except instead of doing it it produces a metal grinding sound and a whine from the mechanism. "Way to go dad. 10 seconds. I think that's a new record." she shakes her head.

Robing shakes her head and closes the panel before walking off further down the hallway.

The staff meanwhile whirs, clicks and a piece of it falls off from somewhere.

The piece looks like a slim disc, maybe half an inch thick and 2 inches across and some kind of emitter in the middle.

Both Will and Ronnie are kind of right as the timer on the disc soon runs out and the device flickers to life, projecting a holographic screen into mid-air. After a moment of static the image coalesces into a recording of the familiar face of a certain Sphinx. Her eyes are glowing a bright white as she looks into the camera. For a moment nothing happens, then she starts to talk.

"It is now 9:30 pm, Sunday, September 23rd 2029."

Another pause during which she seems to stare off into space.

"Who's there?"

"Kind of. But... probably not the way you think. I'm afraid I cannot help you though." she says, reaching for the camera and the image shakes for a moment as she repositions it, for a moment putting a dark pool of blood on the floor into view.

Nailah smiles sadly. "John is right. There is a way, but I'm afraid I cannot tell you what to do. All I can do is point you the way and..." she trails off for a moment. "...try to help someone I hurt."

A small mechanical sphere with six spindly legs crawled out of a duct and stopped on Skeiron's shoulder.

"Curiouser and curiouser," said the voice of Talos on a tiny speaker as it's monocular camera iris focused on the newcomers.
