Zero sighed and begin just following the game, watching the "vampires" carefully as they played.

After a couple more hands, and small losses, Victoria comes to the conclusion that there's just no way she can beat all 4 of the pale skinned folks. She can't prove it conclusively, but it's obvious they know what her cards are, and each other's. With that kind of advantage, there's no way Victoria can win. All she can do is draw things out.

Stan, while keeping in good spirits, is pretty sure the outcome has already been predetermined.

Chuckling, he prepares to see things to the end, and make it as hard as possible for the pale crew to eke out a win.

He glances about casually, looking like he is getting bored, but in actuality trying to see if anything is amiss or out of place away from the table.

Kevin now watched from the sidelines with a sour expression at the pale ones.

Lousy good-for-nothin' cheaters.

Victoria gave the vampires, especially Jezebelle, a very unamused, disapproving glare. Then, deciding where the better part of valor was, she tossed her cards down while she was still ahead of where she began. "Quite a pity," she mused, "this really could have been a fun game. I'm out."

The vamps just laugh at Victoria, collect their money, and walk out as a pack, Jezebelle included.

The Demon watches them go, his jaw taut with rage.

"Why, exactly, did we all just put up with that farce of a game?" she asked to everyone in general when they were clear of vampires.

Stan gritted his teeth in exasperation only after the vampires exited.

"Well, I guess I know who not to sit down with. At least until someone figures out how they rig the game," he mutters to no one in particular.

"Telepathy is the most likely explanation, but the Demon wouldn't let me look."

"What a boring game," Zero says with a bored sigh, "I was hoping for a little more action then that."

"If it were telepathy, there would have been some indication.. ehhh."

Stan got up, thanked the kids for the game, and started to make his way to the exit.

"My bets on good old-fashioned technology. When you focus on the obvious mutant powers, you tend to forget to look elsewhere."

"Because it will make winning the next round all the sweeter."

"Part of me hopes they are vampires so we can give 'em a good guilt-free smackdown."
