Amanda Weinrich

Postby Amanda Weinrich » Wed Mar 18, 2009 2:55 am

Name: Amanda 'Snake-eyes' Weinrich
Age: 28

Power: Amanda has some very noticeable physical mutations, but no powers beyond a slightly heightend sense of smell and a increased sensitivity to cold. As far as anyone knows.

Personality: Amanda is the sterotypical 'absent minded professor', forgetful when it comes to dates, appointments, meals and pens. This is mitigated by a friendly nature and a willingness to make time to help her students, with both academic and personal difficulties.

Description: Were it not for her scales, and the dark pigmentation around her eyes, Amanda would be wholly unremarkable in terms of appearance. The scales cover much of her arms and torso and run in a line down the outside of her legs. Otherwise she is 5'2", medium build with brown hair and brown eyes, and looks a bit younger than her actual age. Because of this, she tends to dress conservatively and professionally when she is teaching, so as not to be mistaken for a student. When she is 'off duty" she tends to favor jeans and t-shirts, or sweaters, depending on the weather.

Background: Amanda was born in and raised in Taos, New Mexico. When she was born with an obvious physical mutation, her parents rearranged things so that her mother could work at home, not because they were ashamed of her, but because they wanted her to have a supportive enviroment. To help this along, they moved to the Greater World Community subdivision, hoping to find a accepting enviroment for their obviously mutant daughter. The ex-hippies and enviromentalists were, for the most part, welcoming and accepting of Amanda and the two mutant siblings that followed her, although her parents did choose to homeschool all of the children. She studied anthropology at the University of New Mexico, and then got her Phd. at Columbia, in the spring of 2021. Her disertation was on Morlock social structures. When she heard that XU was opening, she applied to the Mutant Studies department and was thrilled to get a job. The ink still wet on her dipolma, she packed her up and headed for London.

Before I say anything and risk making an idiot of myself, could I ask if you're a new player entirely? If you don't want to reveal who you are, that's fine. I just don't want to question things if you've already got it planned out with the mods or something.

The character concept has been discussed with the mods, but questions are still welcome.

Alright, that cuts out most of my questions. :D

It's a good app, just...weirdly underpowered. Not that that's something necessarily bad, just something to think about,

The only thing I'd look for is harder examples on the smell and cold thing. Will she be able to track people by their scent? Will locking her in a freezer for ten minutes kill her? Just a bit more specific info on those points might be nice.

I don't think she'd be able to track people, but she'd know if someone was hiding in a room from their scent. And she'd be more sensitive to B.O. :D I think the sensitivity to cold would be more snake like. It wouldn't so much kill her as it would put her in a torpid state.

I like the power-set, although as Nina says, she does sound a bit under powered. On the other hand, I play a cockatoo-shifter, so feel free to take that with a grain of salt.

Otherwise, I like the application, and its nice to see some new faculty apps.

As per previous conversation, I'm fine with the agreed-upon power set.

As an 'underpowered' teacher, welcome to the faculty. :)
