Where Eagles Dare

Postby Simon Kipling » Sat Mar 14, 2009 7:25 pm

Simon was heading back to his dorm after checking out where his classes would be, starting to get into the university rhythm. Things were a little different across the pond but it was easy to get used to. He stopped along the way when a few other students got their flying disk in one of the trees. Rather than watch them try to tear the tree apart in order to retrieve it he lept up and scaled the branches easily, tossing it down to the frat boys so they could continue their game of frisbee tag.

"That was some impressive climbing." Rachel said, smiling at him as she walked up.

Simon dropped part way down the tree, hidden from the waist down by the branches as he hung upside down, roughly eye-level with Rachel.... or perhaps a little lower.

"Thanks. It's kind of my thing."

Simon offered his left hand, since he couldn't properly shake with his right from how he was hanging.

"Simon Kipling. Nice to meet you."

"Likewise." Rachel said, shaking his hand "So, what do you do, beyond the obvious?"

Chloe was flying around the campus, definately not because she was hoping to catch a glimpse of Simon, and she was most certainly not flying high, doing a lazy circle around the quad so that she could watch him once she saw him walking across the quad. And she was absolutely not watching as he climed the tree and spoke to a tall, red haired girl.

"Oh you know. Learning about this country, dressing up in a fancy suit and fighting crime, the usual stuff."

Simon stayed hanging upside down. From how he smiled and composed himself he was used to being in such positions.

"Team 1. I knew you looked familiar. I saw you at the bar that night."

Simon let himself drop from the branch, landing on his hands and flipping to his feet almost effortlessly.

"I heard you guys had quite the job to take care of. Good work."

"We did ok, took down some bad guys." Rachel said modestly "The word was that you guys saw the really dangerous action."

"I guess it might have been. I didn't get to see much action. It's crazy what some of my teammates are capable of." Simon was reluctant to say that he had hardly done anything on the mission.

"Yeah, we've got some very talented people around here." Rachel replied "You should have seen the shifting that Will did. It was fricking sweet."

"I'm sorry I missed it. He hasn't really shown me much of it. But then again I never really asked. I'm sure I'll wake up one morning and see myself staring back at me."

Simon slipped his hands in the pockets of his hooded sweatshirt, tail waving lazily, oblivious of anyone who might be watching him.

Her curiosity got the better of her, and Chloe flew down and perched where she wouldn't been seen by Simon or the girl he was talking to.

Simon fumbled with his pockets before pulling out his phone, quickly punching in Rachel's number as she gave it to him.

"I've been wondering if there were any good clubs around here. But when you're a stranger in a strange land you won't really want to just wander into a random bar alone, you know?"

Yes, because you don't know anyone who is from London who could show you around. Chloe thought, her feathers puffing up in irritation.

"Sure thing. And thanks!" Simon waved to Rachel as she left before resuming his trek toward Sydney Hall. Along the way he pulled out his phone once more and started to make a call. He quickly put it away, whomever he had been trying to get a hold of hadn't been answering.
