Fun with Moving Pictures

[David Hollifield]

David pays for the tickets when they arrive at the theater, and heads in with Chloe. "Do you want a drink or anything? I'm still a little stuffed from dinner, so I'm not really thinking popcorn."

[Chloe Grant]

"Water will be fine." Chloe said, a bit nervously.

[David Hollifield]

David nods and gets some water for both of them, then heads into the theater.

He takes a seat and grins. "Hopefully it's good."

[Chloe Grant]

"It got good reviews." Chloe said, taking her seat.

[David Hollifield]

David nods and leans back to watch the film.

It's a fun movie, a comedy of errors that isn't stupid. The protagonist is a young French girl who goes traveling in the British Isles. She loses her passport right away, and goes through a number of strange escapades, including working as a waitress in a restaurant, hiding from drug runners in a cargo truck, and dancing in a highland festival in order to pay off a debt.

It's gestural cinema, which is to say it doesn't worry much about the transitions from scene to scene, but focuses on the high notes. The supporting cast is different in each scene, with fun for all. Though some of the situations are dangerous, the movie never loses its light-hearted tone.

David laughs, wiping his eyes as the movie ends. "Oh god, I cannot believe she skated on a skateboard made of lard."

"Yeah, that was good. Or the bit where she had to sneak into the fish hatchery? Genius."

[David Hollifield]

David laughs. He has a jolly, full body laugh when he's really amused. "That was priceless." He gets up and looks at Chloe, eyes sparkling with joy. "Hey, thanks for coming with me."

[Chloe Grant]

"Not a problem." Chloe said, smiling at him "It was nice of you to ask me."

[David Hollifield]

Dave takes Chloe's hand again, if she's amenable, and heads back to the busses.

"You're fun to go out with. And very pretty."

[Chloe Grant]

"Thanks" Chloe said, blushing a little, although she still took David's hand.

[David Hollifield]

David smiles and leaves it there. He squeezes Chloe's hand gently and heads back to the dorms with her.

Once they're back at Chloe's door, David puts a hand lightly on her shoulder. "I had a great time. Maybe we can do it again sometime."

[Chloe Grant]

"Yeah, maybe." Chloe said, a little uncertain "I had a nice time."

[David Hollifield]

"No pressure." Dave tries to keep up a brave face, but his face falls a little.

Damn, I guess I blew it.

"Anyway, I'll see you around. Take care, huh?" He smiles at Chloe.

[Chloe Grant]

"Yeah, I'll see you around." Chloe said, smiling at him "Thanks, I had a really nice time." she added smiling at him.

[David Hollifield]

Dave smiles, and reaches up to tuck a little hair behind Chloe's ear. Then he heads off.

He really is a very nice boy. Chloe scolded herself as she walked inside. He likes me. There isn't any reason why I ought not go out with him again. Its stupid that I don't want to. Stupid. I shouldn't want to call Simon and apologize. Gah! This is stupid.
